Sorry if there already was a thread like this, I was too lazy to search. I made this just to know peoples opinions on what the best rpg on the iPhone is.

It's not in your poll but check out iRPG. I like it because it has a simple yet intuitive gameplay.

There's a ton of these threads already, but hey, what can you do.

Across Age is a big favorite of mine, and I actually think that when Zenonia 2 is not glitching it's a big step up from the first one. Underworlds is also very nice for a dungeon crawler, though my favorite one right now is Solomon's Keep (I would put Pocket Legends in this category as well). As far as Western RPGs are concerned, there's also The Quest and Undercroft, both worthwhile titles.

If you're into JRPGs though, the two that stand out for me are Final Fantasy II (which to me is much better than FF1, even with the weird leveling system) and Monster RPG 2. Both have plenty of content, engrossing storylines, and characters you can identify with -- all marks of a good RPG experience.

EDIT: I agree with what Kunning said.

    GTA isn't really an RPG...

You're playing as a Chinese guy with a third person omniscient POV. It's a RPG ^^

You don't level up your character in GTA. That's kind of a must for a game to be considered an RPG. If not, then basically any game with an open world would be considered an RPG.

Leveling up is not at all necessary to play a role. I know the modern gaming world seems to have made it appear so, but certainly not. Otherwise, we would have one kind of game, and what fun would that be? There are the RPGs where you level up (ex. Runescape), the ones where you complete objectives (ex. GTA), and the ones where you create your own scene via imagination (ex. Furcadia). There are probably many more but those are a big 3. :)

Well then by that logic almost every single video game is an RPG, since you are playing in the role of a character of some sort. When people say RPG as a genre, they usually mean leveling up, stats, equipment etc.

My three favorites are Battle for Wesnoth, Necromancer Rising and Puzzle Quest. Of the three the most conventional is Necromancer Rising, so I'll go with that.

Actually, leveling up IS necessary for a roleplaying game.. Roleplaying in video games isnt the same as roleplaying in D&D. If your just looking to play a role, go to IMVU.. in video games, leveling up, EXP and menus practically DEFINE an RPG. This is not even modern, this is a tradition that goes all the way back to Dragon Warrior and Ultima.. You wouldnt consider Devil May Cry an RPG, so why the heck say it about GTA?
