Angry Birds is one of the worst games. Zynga have carbon copied Scrabble and become one of the most popular companies in the world! FPS has no place on the tablet/mobile.
I don't think any of those are especially unpopular! One that's shared amongst us but not the gaming community at large is that mobile is a legitimate gaming platform.
Nobody craves to sit down for a session of Angry Birds, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it per se - its success (along with a few others) helped legitimise iOS as a gaming platform, even if only for casual games. Good, simple concept, well executed. Don't play it, admittedly. Clash of Clans, Game of War, etc however... I just don't see the attraction. Never played them, probably never will.
I did, too, when they were put out by Taito and called Puzzle Bobble. I usually much prefer touch controls to a controller for some reason.
Oh, come now, they've ripped off more than just Puzzle Bobble. But in taking classic puzzle games and turning the F2P screws, I think they hit on an entirely different sort of appeal. I think in ... most... cases, other companies copy King far more closely than King copied their sources.
I think I agree. The most simplistic of gameplay couched in a beautiful dusky world beneath the sun-swallowing canopy of the thickest woods where no man will ever tread. But, you know, simplistic gameplay nevertheless. Super Hexagon is practically unplayable. And I really like most twitch-fests.
Crashlands is kind of boring and overrated. Game of War blows. Candy Crush is the game that ruined mobile gaming and started F2P (I do love Aphabetty Saga though) Clash of Clans and that other one are overrated too.
Mobile gaming itself isn't the problem, it's us gamers being too cheap and not supporting premium games and spending money on the big f2p ones
My unpopular (around here) opinion is: There's nothing wrong with the current state of gaming. Freemium and premium can healthily coexist. The low price of games is totally fine and there's nothing wrong with waiting for sales.
I just imagine a few different quirks of fate, in which gamers begged for mobile hardware to improve with the intent to make Skyrims and the like on mobile. It could have happened if the dice had fallen a little differently. That's not the drive anymore, so yeah we've gotta make do with what we've got and banish the what ifs from our over-imaginative minds.
CCGs are enormously dumb. I don't know the difference between Clashing Clans and Healthstoned but I do know that both are lame. Desert Golfing is way better than your favorite iOS game (unless your favorite iOS game is Desert Golfing).
