It HAS been a while since there was a top 10 thread, and (oddly) a new one might be good...still, I think that by saying "top 50" instead of top 10 there will some that will assume the thread is too ambitious and will never take off and not post. Not saying thats rationale...
Half will be games released in the last couple of weeks. These are the ones still bathing in the glow of release. It is always the case here.

I agree that the newer games are better. Rolando 1 was 11th for me though and that is quite old. Too bad it is top 10.
That is not the point. People just say the new stuff simply because it's new. They are still playing it. Give it a month and it will not be, it's won't be top anything. Lists like this should ONLY be for games that had a release date older than 3 months or 6 months. Then you'll see what has stood up to lots of playing. There are games released 9+ months ago which are still very fine games but they are overshadowed by something released last week which will burn bright but briefly.
That is true. But, for example, Modern Combat Sandstorm has better controls, sound and graphics than a release of the same genre, same company BIA. It is, in some cases, a bit of both

Really ambitious project itman. You're going to have to give it some thought as to how you intend for it to work. Just laying down a poll isn't good enough.
This list has been done like 50 times, each with its own variations of top 2/5/10/20/30/50/etc. -.-'; After numbers like that it's purely for reasons of showing off your favourite games. Like an earlier post suggested, it's much more interesting for a top 2/5/10/20/30/50/etc overhyped/flops/unexpectedly low quality games for iPhone.
