    Hey gang,

Morgan from Defiant here - I thought you might be interested in a sneak peek at our newest thing - an action-RPG built for touch.

There's a playthrough video at http://youtu.be/QsWtQzZksAg which gives a good sense of where we're going. It's still very early days though - so I'm not going to give too much detail about specifics - but we're very interested in seeing what people think.

The biggest focus has been building a game that uses touch controls from the ground up, rather than virtual d-pads. We think we've got something pretty awesome together, at this point.

Anyways - take a look at the video and let us know what you think!

BTW, we're still beavering away on the next level pack for Rocket Bunnies. Shouldn't be too far off (we've got some fun new stuff!).

It looks absolutely fantastic! Takes me back to the days of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. Do you have plans for the smallscreen?

Yep, absolutely - it already plays well on iPhone.

That said, we've really approached this with the goal of making the best tablet game possible. So far, that's allowed us to make a pretty awesome phone game as well, but we're still revising and building as we go. There's definitely some nuances w/ menus and buttons (in terms of relative screen space on a tab vs phone) that we're looking into the best solutions for.

    Nice!

I will be looking forward for this one. It will be good too to have skill or special move link with certain action player could issue via the touch screen =) By the way the teaser looks great for a start .

so excited for this. Was hoping that pocket RPG would be deeper but it wasn't. This looks like it's scratching that itch.

That sort of deeper RPG experience on tablet was definitely an itch for us as well!

I'm glad this is coming to iPod/iPhone as well. We definitely need deeper RPGs on App Store.

Watching the videos it looks like touching on an enemy will result in that foe continuously being attacked until defeat. I think it would work better if you had to tap them once for each hit, more interactive.

I'm fairly new to the genre. I was a console guy, so my experience with these types of games is limited to Baldurs Gate II, Everquest, and Lodoss War - all console games. I ADORED the PS2/Xbox Baldurs Gate games (I am totally aware that they're not the same as PC), and I enjoy Torchlight. However, I'm realizing that what I love about these games is the buildup to really cool looking mid and end level boss fights.

The more that i play of these games, the less I see these types of battles. There are few things more fulfilling than grinding in a dungeon crawl towards the goal of defeating some gigantic, highly detailed, hellish boss monster.

Will your game have battles like this, or are you focusing on exploration and character building?

Endless dungeon grinding? Or is there a story? (That wasn't a jab, I'm honestly curious)

Looks really promising! The music in the trailer is superb. Will there be a storyline & quests? Any above-ground/outside action?

    Whoa!!!
    Looks already spectacular!!!
The first thing I though watching the video was: FINALLY a modern western RPG possibly in the vein of a (single man party) Baldur's Gate.
I hope there will be story/dialogues/choices/puzzles and not only hack&slash combat.
    Glad it's on iPhone too.
    Can't wait to hear more!!!

This so far very much looks like what I've been waiting for on iOS as a Diablo-like action RPG but my biggest concern is the controls. I realize that iOS is a touchscreen device and touchscreen controls work great for many games, but I actually prefer using a d-pad or other gamepad-type controls presented on-screen for tighter control plus I want to be able to actually *see* the graphics without my big fat fingers covering it all up.

So will there be an option for those of us who actually prefer virtual controls rather than the swiping type controls seen in the video?
