I tried looking for a thread on Ridge Racer Accelerated regarding mainly tips/strategies and couldn't find anything other than the main threads (preview and released). The more I play Ridge Racer Accelerated the more this is becoming my favorite racing game. This game has a lot of potential and It seems the update(s) have been bettering this game gradually and I love seeing that. Supposedly there is a ton of additional content coming out this year via updates...lets hope that Namco Networks America continues to polish this game while doing so. Can anyone share there experiences/strategies on handling, drifting, sensitivity settings, control options, vehicles, tracks, stats, general tips/strategies, and anything else that would help hone driving skills? I personally am having most my trouble on how to not overdrift on turns. Any information will help and thank you. For drifting, the trick I've found is starting with cars that have a "mld" rating for their drift. It also helps if you start with level 1 cars. As soon as you steer into the drift and the car catches, immediately begin steering slightly in the opposite direction. I usually try to keep the car at about a 25 degree angle. If you are too far sideways, it slows you down. GodSon Well-Known Member Mar 12, 2009 3,373 0 36 #3 GodSon, Jan 14, 2010 Last edited: Jan 14, 2010 Ok, Counter steer a little more noted. The slow down after overdrifting is the main problem I am having. When your about to start your turn do you tap the brake then let off the gas? do you just let off the gas and drift until you straighten your car out then accelerate again? or do you charge right into it? I am starting from number one on everything so i can build my way up to the faster/more advanced cars. I see thats the best way to hone my skills gradually. I have my sensitivity on default if that helps. Have been a long time fan of the series and was a bit in doubt initially. Seeing the quick updates addressing issues/bugs helped knowing that the Dev(s) are working to keep the franchise name in good standing. btw it was mainly your posts on the main thread that got me to purchase it along with all (currently offered) DLC. All your info on the game was spot on. I let off of the accelerator just before I turn. This triggers the drift. As soon as the car catches, I get back on the accelerator and steer against the drift slightly. I normally tend to keep everything on default in games for the most part. I'm using controller layout 2. The different control methods make a huge difference in playing. Glad Namco hadn't gave up on it yet. They should be adding even more supposedly right? Anyways...the new touch controls I currently prefer. Still good to go back to accelerometer here an there but I can maintain my car control with the touch a lot better.
