We'd like to announce to an app exclusive to the iPad called Sudoku Real Edition. Squeezing 81 squares onto an iPhone really sucks and this is why we've implemented it on the iPad. Our game is unique in the way it aims to be as real as possible. When you're playing it's almost as if you went down to the store, bought a Sudoku book and sat down at a table to play. Almost all the graphics are based off real items we photographed. We've already received feedback and confirmation from Apple that our game will be in the store for purchase on April 3rd. Looks pretty cool! Nice work, but I don't think going only after the iPad market is such a great idea because you are limiting your ability to gain more money to fund/pay yourself and your team
Thanks for the kind words and concerns randomdude. We may look at porting it to work on the iPhone too, we just want to make sure the experience is truly decent.
Looks nice. Are your puzzles randomly generated, or are they designed by someone? And, as a corollary - I am guessing that they all truly only have 1 solution? Also, I notice the numbered pencil marks - will it have the dot system as well?
pluto6: First we generated thousands of puzzles and then ran an algorithm over them to work out how many moves and how difficult each puzzle really is. Then we extracted the puzzles from that exercise to get the master list of puzzles used in the game. Turns out to be quite an interesting science making sudoku puzzles. It's impossible to generate a puzzle to a certain difficultly, you can only generate one and then work out later how difficult it really is. No dot system planned but will have to check that out.
Yep, it works in all orientations Everything slides beautifully into position on the transition from landscape to portrait and back.
sudoku definately does not suck on the iphone, in fact its brilliant there. Not cramped at all, suspect you may be shooting yourself in the foot here just going for the ipad.
If there was an iPhone version would anyone think that would sell? Would you consider buying it yourself?
If you made iPhone version I will buy it today! When I buy iPad (In June in Russia) I will buy Sudoku Real Edition
I would buy it for my iphone. But one question; are the puzzles randomly generated or are they designed for the game? Personally I don't like the randomly generated ones because I think that they are not hard enough. And ones that are specifically designed for a game can be brutal (but fun).
Thanks for the support everyone! Ah it feels good to finally be able to show everyone what we've been working on! Looks like it's heads back down again working solid on the iPhone version ;-)
