Hey all While our other game, Evil Master Overlord, slowly plods through development (I know I know, it's been a long time coming ), I've started work on a new game (EMO is being developed by another team, so work on this game would not affect EMO's development), a party-based rogue-like. Rogue-likes are a dime a dozen these days, I know, but I've come across very few that allow you to play as a party. There are of course numerous tactics game, but these are not rogue-likes. In fact, if you know of any party-based rogue-likes, please point them out! So here are some early features being considered: * play as a party of 3 characters * either Lovecraft or medieval fantasy based story/environment * characters have stats and skills that can be improved after leveling * randomized dungeons with an end goal * 2D top-down art style (think 100 Rogues) * "town" where items can be sold/purchased A party-based version of 100 Rogues is probably a close comparison to what this would be like. However, I'm still in the VERY early design stages, so anything can happen. So what would you like to see? Any on this list you like/dislike? Which of the two themes I listed would you be more interested in? Any other themes you'd like to see? I can't promise any suggestions will make it in, but I'll try. I'm thinking of trying to finish the game by the end of the year, but of course we all know how indie dev schedules go...
I think medieval theme would be the coolest and party of 3 instead of 1 sounds better. Everything else sounds really cool!
Sounds super swell. I'd prefere the Cthulu theme.(yes I know my own roguelike is medieval/fantasy, that is because it is set in a game universe already created on other platform) Something different than skeletons, swords and bows would be welcome. I do hope the artstyle is different than EMO though, thats just my personal preference.
Lovecraft theme would be great would a noir style. Yeah, party based! So... The rumors are true... Evil Master Overlord really is still a thing.
Well... First off, there is no such thing as "too many rogue-likes." Having said that the idea of a party sounds great, plus, you had me at Lovecraft... Would love to see this progress!
Yep, I'm leaning toward Lovecraft as well, partially for the uniqueness factor and partially because Cthulhu lore is just very cool. And yes, the art style would be very different than EMO - all 2D pixel art.
