Lots a great games at this price point, but the very best $.99 I gave ever spent in the app store was on Hook World by rocketcat games. Loved Super Quick Hook when it came out, when I got to the avalanche level, I kept going back to that.... So much so I never even finished the game! (still need to revisit that one ) Anyways, a year or so later, they came out with Hook Worlds... Holy crap, it's like four games in one. Love being chased, knowing your time is limited, but still pushing as far as you can. I don't ever feel like the game cheated, when I die... It always feels like it was my fault. IMHO, thats hard to do in a random world game. Second would be a dead three way tie!! Cough cough, JetPack joyride (jumped opening day,) Minataur Rescue, and last but not least.... Gridrunner!!!
It's a tough one, as I've gotten some great deals on some great games. But if pressed, I'd probably have to go with Kingdom Rush.
extremely difficult question to answer as there are so many great games that i've got for $99 but i would have to say it's tied with Galaxy on Fire 2, Plants vs Zombies, Dead Space & World of Goo. i've also ended up with tons of great games for free, the best of which was Gene Effect

Helsing's Fire. There have been lots of great games since that I've picked up for more or less, but that one is to this day my all time favorite.
Probably Kingdom Rush HD. The entertainment we can get for a dollar is rediculous. Edit: I should also mention 1000 Heroz (I think it was a buck). I have played it every day for over 400 days now!
