I am wondering what would be the best way to promote my game Wire Storm (http://www.wire-storm.com).

    Things I've tried so far:

    FREE:

    A) I've contacted almost every app review site I could find in an attempt to get reviews.

    B) The game actively encourages challenging friends through Game Center.

    C) The game encourages sharing your score on Facebook and Twitter for social growth.

    PAID:

    D) I am running ads on http://www.appshopper.com and http://www.angrybirdsnest.com. They are not converting well.

    E) I am going to try running my first Chartboost campaign. At this point I am just testing the waters as I don't think the math will work out considering it is minimum $0.50 per install. The only way I see it working is with a large budget to boost App Store rankings.

I am really at my witts end here. I don't mind spending $$$ if I can make the money back in a reasonable time, but everything I've tried so far has failed.

Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can go for popular press release site like prmac.com which will bring a limelight for your app. Banner ads helps to promote your app widely. When creative banners ads are distributed widely through exact medium then the results can be explosive and hence reaches the targeted audience and increases your downloads .

    Here's my opinion:
    - don't bother with banner ads - they have either terrible conversion, or are very expensive (like site theme on major websites)
    - only go for Chartboost if you have a budget of 10 000 USD or more, otherwise you'll be just flushing money away. In your case - I'd say you should invest so much in your app, cause it's unlikely to show high ARPU anyway

My choice would be - switch from free to paid every now and then to get picked by price checking sites and work on next app, meanwhile try to get some press coverage for free - maybe on local markets (try localizing into few languages, see how it goes).

Thanks for the rating. There is no music in the game. It's something I've considered adding and probably should. My original thought was that most people like to listen to their own music. If adding music what style should I go with? I think chiptunes might fit the theme of the puzzle the best, but not sure if that's something people really want to listen to.

I've also been experimenting with Chartboost with good results so far and I'm still optimizing the campaign. Their minimum bid for CPC is $0.05 and CPI is $0.50. CPC seems to be the better choice in my scenario from the analytics I have so far.

The first review I've seen of my game also went live today: http://www.tapscape.com/wire-storm-iphone-game-review/

Hopefully a few more iOS blogs/gaming sites will pick it up. Thanks for all the tips/suggestions and please keep them coming.
