Hello, I'm Steve, one third of Foxhole Games and Designer and (sort of) coder of Blokshot. Touch Arcade were very nice about the iOS version, giving it a greatly cherished 5 star review which you can read here: http://toucharcade.com/2015/03/11/blokshot-revolution-review/ And we might have earned the forum game of the week too, it's a bit unclear because I may have messed up the result by impetuously voting for myself. Anyhoo, I'm posting here to let you all know that we've finally got an Android version out. You've got two options: Google Play for £0.69, No ads, unlocked soundtrack. All yours FOREVER!! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxholegamesllp.blokshotProjX Or through Amazon's new Underground thing. identical to the above, completely free but more...Amazony. http://www.amazon.com/Foxhole-Games-Blokshot-Revolution/dp/B00X925D9O/ref=sr_1_1?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1441133871&sr=1-1&keywords=Blokshot Hope you like it! Cheers Steve
Looks cool! Nice work, looks great! What is this "Amazon's new Underground thing" thou speaketh of? Cheers!
Thanks! Last week, Amazon released an update to their game service which now includes a new section called Underground. From it, you can download about 400 (and counting) games - which would normally be premium or F2P with adverts or in-app purchases - completely free. There's no catch to you and the developers get paid on a "play per minute, per person" basis. Amazon are taking the cost of that in exchange, I guess, for the value they hope to gain for drawing users into their gaming ecosystem - and, presumably, the usual online information you offer by signing up to their service. You can find out more here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000854643&ref_=mas_surl_undrgrnd&ref=spkl_2_1_684545207&qid=1441261324&pf_rd_p=684545207&pf_rd_m=A1F83G8C2ARO7P&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_s=desktop-signpost&pf_rd_r=1MNT9AMZZKDPX1M2G0GH&pf_rd_i=amazon+underground Thanks again for the interest!
I've had a few people ask me about the permissions on the Android version. The short answer is that the game isn't using any of the things that the permissions seem to be asking for. Game Maker (the package that Blokshot is made in) has a bunch of built in permissions which I'm not making use of but which I can't seem to remove. I'll try to learn about more about it and remove them from future updates - in the short term; none of that spooky sounding stuff about microphones and whatnot is actually being used at all!
