Mine is that I thought all you have to do is make a good game to succeed in the app store. I didn't fully appreciate just how important marketing is! What are some of yours?
Yeah, I learned this the hard way too. Another thing I learned was that interaction with target gamers is crucial and highly rewarding. This interaction is as much fun as the development process itself.
I was just going to ask the same, and am super curious. What do you mean by getting ripped off by the beta testers?
from my point of view, i don't think that will be a common problem as usually, it would be very troublesome to go copy it
I may be very naive, but my feeling is that if you make something worth paying for, and the price is reasonable, people WILL pay for it. I know I do. Usually, people who steal/pirate are not the people who would pay for it anyway.
