  1. Coming soon from The Ant Ranch:
Tiny Arcade! The two player one device game for head to head action!

    http://theantranch.com/Tiny_Arcade.html

Tiny Arcade is the exciting Two Player One Device Arcade Action Extravaganza you want on your touch screen!

The first game for Tiny Arcade is Space Duel.

Space Duel is the exciting ship to ship combat game between you and your friends. Fight head to head on the same device for the supremacy of the universe! Let the better player win! But watch out for the UFO, black holes, suns, and other hazards - it's not just your friends that are out to get you!

The first game doesn't look particularly good, but the idea of an arcade inside your iPhone is definitely intriguing........

I think Space Duel looks pretty good. It's simple, but I can see it becoming addictive. We really need some more games with the 1-device-2-players thing going on, at the moment the only one I have is Orbital. It's amazing how much more fun it gets having someone at the other end of the phone.

  4. Thanks for the feedback, hardcoregamer, MidianGTX.

I wanted the game to be simple fast and fun. Something you could whip out and play at the pub with a mate. To test it, I've got to get my wife to play the other seat, and it's not a hard sell. Even tho' she's not a gamer, she really likes it.

The look is straight from the arcades when I was in high school - asteroids, battle zone. I think I kept my local Fred Meyer in business with my quarters at one point.

I always like to hear what people think, and will try to respond as quickly as possible to questions and requests. Currently I'm a one man and mouse-pad operation, but if I can keep floating this boat, I'll be doing larger games.

Tiny Arcade & Space Duel have been a personal test to try to do something simple clean and quick. I hope I've succeeded.

On the other hand, I'm not going to sacrifice quality for speed.

My background is Film and TV where I supervise the vfx. I cut my teeth in LA on Season 2 of Babylon 5 (does that carbon date me?) and moved on to shows like Xena & Hercules, ST: DS9, Enterprise and many more, then on to features and commercials.

I've now got a son (15 m.o.) and I'm trying to change focus and work for myself. I've always loved games, so this last year I've taught myself to code and make games. This year I will try to crack on and perfect what I've learned, making bigger and better games for you folks.

Space Duel not only has the UFO (pictured in the link: http://theantranch.com/Tiny_Arcade.html ), but also has play modes that include a rogue moon, asteroids, the sun... and my favorite: a black hole.

I'm hoping to send this to Apple by the end of the week, so it should be available in about - what? - three weeks from now, if Apple continues to keep it's two week back-log to review?

I'll drop a line here when it's available.

If you have any requests for anything you'd like to see in Tiny Arcade (or a stand alone) let me know. I've got several projects on the boil, but I'll always have time for good ideas and suggestions.

    Thanks again for the replies!

So you'll just be adding updates to Tiny Arcade so there's more games? Or will you sell individually?

Anyway, good to see 2 players on one device.

  6. Tiny Arcade is out for the iPhone. Check out http://theantranch.com/ or surf directly to http://theantranch.com/Tiny_Arcade.html for more information & links to the iTunes store.

Tiny Arcade includes three games at the mo' and I'm working on a two player cooperative version of Survival.

If you have an iPad, we've brought Space Duel to the iPad it looks good and plays great! Just like an 80s table top game. I just wouldn't recommend balancing your drink on the edge of your iPad, however.

Drop by our forums (http://theantranch.com/forum) and let us know how you feel.
