Nicely though you can get FF 1,2 &3 for a total about the same price right now on sale as this sale. I posted a thread on it since these were games on my wait list. Thank goodness I got the 100 card for 80 from bestbuy during the Black Friday sale. This week has been brutal. pluto6 Well-Known Member Jun 21, 2009 5,837 3 38 Military #5 pluto6, Dec 7, 2012 So this game looks like a compilation of sorts? I have most of the Ff games, and the screen shots look hauntingly familiar. I love FF games, but don't want to buy, if I essentially already own it. NaiveCynic Well-Known Member Oct 18, 2012 58 0 0 #6 NaiveCynic, Dec 7, 2012 Last edited: Dec 7, 2012 Actually, Dimensions is a completely new game designed specifically for iPhone with a new story, characters, and everything. It reuses a lot of assets from the classic FFs but its a very solid classic style RPG in its own right. The price break on the IAP unlock price is pretty hefty, though the original asking price was rather greedy in the first place... Bought the full unlock and am continuing my save from completing the prologue from a while back and really liking it. While only based on limited exposure to the game, I'd recommend this one to any RPG fans who miss the glory days of Final Fantasy. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #7 undeadcow, Dec 7, 2012 What?!? They're releasing FFIV on iOS ...and soon? When did fhwt get announced if not right now? FFD is now mine, thanks OP! It was after the iOS release of ff 3 which people assumed was getting the psp's auto battle and gambit system in an update that never came :/ The press release was geared towards android and had no dates which is why there wasn't much to be talked about. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #9 undeadcow, Dec 8, 2012 So far I highly recommend Final Fantasy Dimensions, it's a great RPG and my favorite iOS Square Enix release at this point. CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,580 27 48 #10 CygnetSeven, Dec 8, 2012 Strange that they put Dimensions on sale that came out Aug '12 but not Tactics that came out Aug of '11. Really was hoping for a Christmas sale on Tactics. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #11 undeadcow, Dec 8, 2012 Tactics was one sale around New Year's last year (Dec 19-Jan 5), I'm surprised more SE titles are not included in this sale (like Chrono Trigger)... they seem sly about not discounting certain titles. kioshi Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2011 880 0 0 Brazil #12 kioshi, Dec 8, 2012 It's actually a japanese featurephone game ported for iOS. The original one was released in chapters, hence the model used in the iOS version. Dunno how much they improved the game for iOS since I've only played the free chapter. strivemind Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2010 2,784 2 38 Designer Ottawa, Canada http://www.strivemind.com/ #13 strivemind, Dec 8, 2012 We're still a few weeks from Christmas, so you never know... chubbypillow Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2012 93 0 0 NY #14 chubbypillow, Dec 8, 2012 Yes been waiting for this one to go on sale!! smegly Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2012 990 0 0 NY, NY #15 smegly, Dec 8, 2012 As I understand it, the main difference is that the earlier phone version had a more normal 16-bit level of pixelation to it. Also, the game was purchased in smaller increments (Same prologue and first chapter, but then each sub-chapter was its own purchase, I think) originally and the total price was actually higher then than it is on iOS even before the sale. eq-addict New Member Sep 24, 2012 4 0 0 #16 eq-addict, Dec 10, 2012 Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you get when you buy the "chiptune bgm" IAP? acrotran Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2010 741 0 0 #17 acrotran, Dec 11, 2012 bgm = back-ground music You're probably just buying an mp3 with the bgm. Pandabunny Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2012 54 0 0 #18 Pandabunny, Dec 13, 2012 Question: I'm fairly new to the RPG genre (apart from Zelda if that counts), never played Final Fantasy. I downloaded the first three now while they're on sale, won't have time to play them until next week though - so, in your opinion, is Final Fantasy so good that it's worth paying $16.99? I've never spand that much on an (iOS) game before, but I'd hate to end up loving Final Fantasy and miss this game of the series. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #19 undeadcow, Dec 14, 2012 I'd advise you to wait under these circumstances. The first 3 will take you some time and there will probably eventually be another sale on FF Dimensions. If you end up liking RPGs then there are a number of cheaper options on iOS to keep you busy (check out the list linked at the bottom of my signature). If you knew more about the genre and definitely enjoyed the gameplay I'd say get Dimensions in a heartbeat; it is great. Rusothil Well-Known Member Dec 6, 2011 270 0 0 #20 Rusothil, Dec 14, 2012 If I were to buy this game, delete it off my iPhone to get to it later, would the IAP still remember that I bought it?
