Worth the time to download for sure. AnarKitty Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2010 3,654 0 0 Minneapolis, USA #5 AnarKitty, Feb 12, 2013 Looks like this one is a go! Thanks for the thread. Hard (better: impossible) to recommend a game when the dev doesn't care to add any explanations on IAPs. So until anyone has finished the game we won't know. It has some slowdowns occasionally on my 3GS, but nothing game breaking. I think it is Land-a Panda, the game mechanics is very similar to this one. Kinda short though only 15 swamp levels and 3 desert levels. Says more coming soon. No worries about the in game purchases. You need the Viking helmet to get some stars, and everything else is really optional like freeze stars and slow time. You get currency easily so no major grinding needed. Finished most of the game with all stars except level 13 of the swamp seems glitched where 1 star is. Anyone manage all 3 stars for this level? nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 860 9 18 #10 nkarafo, Feb 12, 2013 A Donkey Kong Country clone somehow perhaps. bradkeys Member Dec 18, 2012 9 0 0 Founder of Rebel Hippo Inc. Canada http://www.rebelhippo.com #11 bradkeys, Feb 12, 2013 Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm the lead designer of Frocket. Currently we're working on an Android release and more levels for the Desert. I'll answer some of your questions. The barrel shooting mechanic was heavily inspired by Donkey Kong Country. It was one of my favourite games growing up. The 3GS and iPad 1 are the lowest supported devices. Like you said, it runs fine on them, but it will run better on newer devices. I play it on an iPad 2 the most. I agree it's frustrating that the power ups and purchases aren't explained in-game. Unfortunately we ran into a file size barrier (50 MB) preventing us from adding that to the UI. One of our focuses right now is finding better ways to communicate the point of the game and how the power ups work. It will just require a bit of restructuring the UI. It would be good to have them explained at least on our website however. So I'll get those changes made ASAP. Thanks for the feedback. To complete the Swamp with all the stars you will need to buy the Viking Helmet (a permanent upgrade), which allows you to bust through barricades (boarded walls). I also find the Freeze Stars power up extremely useful on some levels. It makes it so the stars won't disappear for that play. A full play through of the Swamp (for me at least) gives me about 2000 fire flies. That's enough to get the Viking Helmet, but then you have to go back through about half of the levels to use it. If you would rather get all 3 stars in every level as you play through the first time, then it is worth buying extra fireflies right off the start to get the Viking Helmet. bradkeys Member Dec 18, 2012 9 0 0 Founder of Rebel Hippo Inc. If so, has the balance been changed to now require IAPs to complete the game? bradkeys Member Dec 18, 2012 9 0 0 Founder of Rebel Hippo Inc. There is a free version called Frocket Lite, which has a limited number of levels and will not get any future content. This sale is for the full, paid version, which is free only for this week (regularly $0.99). Habakuk Well-Known Member Dec 11, 2008 4,779 9 38 Vienna, Austria http://rossau.wordpress.com #16 Habakuk, Feb 12, 2013 Thanks. Recommended! Pretty fun actually. Perfect mobile casual game. CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,582 30 48 #17 CygnetSeven, Feb 12, 2013 I was not expecting much from this but being a huge fan of games like Bouncy Mouse, Puffle Launch, Parachute Ninja and Rayman I had to give it a try. I played the first four levels and thought the graphic quality was nice and fun to play but although the timing mechanisms were interesting it hadn't challenged me... yet. Then level 5 reared back and slapped me hard. Wow, still working on it and glad I stuck with it. When I play games like this or One Tap Hero I like to get all three stars before I move to the next level. This one is definitely a keeper. Whether new levels come as a free upgrade or as iap, I'm there. Thanks for the added stress in my day as I try not to throw my phone out the window. Nicely done! Thanks! Anyone enjoying this freebie should add an itunes review to help an active developer. Will gift it to a friend once the sale is over. bradkeys Member Dec 18, 2012 9 0 0 Founder of Rebel Hippo Inc. Canada http://www.rebelhippo.com #18 bradkeys, Feb 12, 2013 Thanks Cygnet, glad you're enjoying it! We appreciate any help with ratings and reviews. We released the game in December and to be quite honest although it has received very positive reviews from users and critics alike, it has unfortunately gained very little attention. I hope this free promotion will increase its presence in the App Store (something we've found incredibly tough to do). But it's really you, the fans, that can make this possible by sharing and rating it. The more successful it is, the more content we'll be able to create, and the more likely it will be that we can create other awesome games in the future Snooptalian Well-Known Member Sep 12, 2009 1,938 8 38 #19 Snooptalian, Feb 12, 2013 Cool.
