New game studio opened by veteran game developers Dave Loyd, Dwayne Knight, and Jonathan Hagewood in Gainesville, Florida. Six Shooter Games was formed after Ignition Entertainment Florida closed in November 2010. The founders opened their first office in June 2011, bringing in other ex-Ignition developers to work on two separate projects. Their debut game, Sprocket Junkie, is scheduled for release this fall on iPhone and iPad. The company has launched a Kickstarter project Sprocket Junkie Kickstarter to obtain funding and develop interest in Sprocket Junkie. Sprocket Junkie is an intense action racing game for iOS devices (e.g. iPhone, iPod Touch 4). It is a “spiritual successor” to the 1996 PC game Rocket Jockey. In Sprocket Junkie, Players battle riding atop giant rocket engines, using grapple hooks to take down opponents and make hairpin turns. Players choose from many characters, customizable engines and accessories to compete in several fast-paced single-player and multi-player modes. “The lights come on, scoreboards are lit all around, and the anticipation is greeted by the first collision of man, rocket, and harpoon. The Tournament has begun.” links : Six Shooter Games Six Shooter On Facebook Sprocket Junkie Kickstarter
Looks pretty good, interesting race mechanics with the tethering. Wish you'd talk a bit more about the race mechanics and track design in the video, although you touch on them a little on your kickstarter page. It's also a little abrupt with the last guy listing demands and then signing off abruptly like a hostage video. $18,000 is a big one, so you'll need to constantly be out there getting your name out there to different sites, promoting retweets, etc. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
18,000 is a big one, you are correct! We have plans to be constantly releasing information, getting the word out, and following up with questions and comments such as yours! You wanted to know more about race mechanics/track design? Each track is crafted with it's own gametype in mind. There will be multiple game modes that the game will use and each requires a specific map type in order to play it. So racing gameplay will be housed on a some racing tracks that resemble a moto-cross feel. The dangerous jumps and intense speed that comes with the feel of a moto-cross race really takes the gameplay to that next level everyone wants to feel. There will be battle modes for multi-player that consist of more open maps that resemble more Mario Kart Battle maps. These will have more open areas for the player to navigate around and take out other players. There are more gameplay modes planned but those cannot be quite revealed yet! The race mechanics are following the footsteps of Rocket Jockey. Players ride atop these engines and fire grappling hooks from either side. We have taken care to make the controls feel smooth and the handling of the engines to be natural. As natural as handling giant rocket engines can be that is! thanks for the reply though!
