All right, I think I get this now...as I said before, I got the lite version of the first, and wasn't taken enough with it to get the full version. I really am enjoying the second however. I think part of the reason that I was thrown off, even with the second, was that I was trying to rush through the levels to meet the challenge time. I've now completely ignored the timing aspect, and am just enjoying the levels in all of their complexity. I am concentrating on getting all of the gems, and all of the Rolandos exited safely, and that has really upped my enjoyment of the game. I don't think this is a game that should be rushed through. The environments are part of the appeal. I understand that the time challenge is nice if you have already completed the level and want to go back to try to get that achievement, but I really just like exploring each level as it comes. There's no doubt that this game is well worth the 10 bucks, the level of quality in every aspect is very high. I just felt that in the first game, some of the "wow" factor wasn't there. I'm feeling it here for some of the reasons mentioned by others. I like the characterization of the Rolandos, along with the corresponding vocalizations. I like the variety of Rolandos with their differing abilities, and like everybody else it seems, I like the soundtrack. These thoughts are coming from someone who absolutely was not caught up in the hype, didn't read all of the pre-release threads, and was just giving this a go to see if I was too hasty on the first. I'm not sure if after I finish this game I'll go back and get the first...possibly, but I'm certainly enjoying this iteration of the game and can easily recommend it even to those who weren't wowed by the first.
