I just played a whole game - Quick Play Steelers v Cowboys (hate both, but that's what it chhose for me). I lost 3-0.
Overall, I'd say it's average. Depth of plays is pretty good, but the controls leave something to be desired for me Maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet. In order to perform a specific move, instead of using the joystick or pressing a button, three icons appear on the screen and you choose one while the game pauses/super slows.
Passing is done by tapping on the icon of a reciever you want to throw to. The icons alternate during the play from green/tan/red depending on how open and how much of a chance you have of completing the pass. Passes to green supposedly have the most chance of being completed.
RUnning is a straight joystick until you encounter a defender, then you're presented with the three icons to choose from.
Grapically, the rendering is average. I thought serveral of the players didn't look very good and the linemen are more short squat doughboys than actual big guys. There's no celebrations to speak of, just some stock player reactions.
Voice commentary seemed repetitive and is a single announcer. It's somewhat stilted and there's a couple places the phrases are off ("The Steelers lines up in a zone defense"
Overall, decent but there's a lot of room for improvement. I'd say Madden has a decent shot of being better.
