Habakuk Well-Known Member Dec 11, 2008 4,779 9 38 Vienna, Austria http://rossau.wordpress.com #4 Habakuk, Mar 26, 2013 ^ Released five days ago. Very recommended! wipEout clone. Promising. The first three races are easy (could even unlock the second ship on the first try) on "normal" but difficulty ramps up on the dark space track (#4). Very good tilt controls (but you can change to touch controls) and physics. High speed feeling. Stable and smooth on iPad 4. DBC jeffyg3 Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2010 1,251 0 36 #6 jeffyg3, Mar 26, 2013 Tracks and ships are boring and few, graphics feel plain, and gameplay is nothing special. It feels like a below avg wipeout game. It's ok, it's free, it was worth a try Habakuk Well-Known Member Dec 11, 2008 4,779 9 38 Vienna, Austria http://rossau.wordpress.com #7 Habakuk, Mar 26, 2013 ^ You did see that it's version 1.0, didn't you? For such an early version I find it very promising and recommended. They got it spot-on: Controls, speed feeling, some weapons and tactics, nice track layout, no IAPs. A very good base for future updates. Better than average for me personally. Will try multiplayer soon awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #8 awp69, Mar 26, 2013 I agree that there's a good foundation here - sense of speed, etc. Still think Repulze is the best futuristic racing game on the iOS bar none and when it adds actual opponents and combat (possibly this week), it'll set the bar even higher. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #9 Royce, Mar 26, 2013 When/if doesn't really count. Currently this is far superior as a wipeout style racer simply because it has combat, actual racing with opponents, multiplayer, etc. Though I agree the graphics are plain, they are decent, and when you add it all up, this game here is actually the best Wipout style game on iOS, and it's an easy call because nobody else has even made a half decent one. This is basically it. If repulze, when repulze, etc at some future date actually adds all the missing feature to its snazzy graphics maybe it will surpass this, but that isn't now. copaeci Well-Known Member Nov 2, 2012 1,606 0 0 student, writer, reviewer, beta tester ID http://about.me/yesi.livera #10 copaeci, Mar 26, 2013 hasn't free yet here (Indonesia) .... better check it later or this is valid on some countries only? nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #11 nightc1, Mar 26, 2013 Overall, gotta agree with Royce. This is a solid game and it's the best wipeout type game on iOS that I've played. It's better than Flashout 3D. I'd expect this to be better than repulze simply because repulze isn't a wipeout style racer. It's got more in common right now with Skyriders. Granted I really enjoyed Skyriders but it's a different kind of game. When the update hits for phase 3 of Repulze though, it'll probably take over as best wipeout style game on iOS. And you talk so favorably about this, coolness. chris1a Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2010 1,335 1 0 Sweden #13 chris1a, Mar 26, 2013 Bought this the other day since it looked like a solid title, and had no IAP. Plus the dev is active in the games thread. But even tho it's only a buck, don't take a huge shit on your customers because your app isn't doing great on the AppStore, Marc. Swallow it and move on, like all other real game devs (ie non-AppStore devs) do. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #14 Royce, Mar 26, 2013 I just bought this myself but I have a slightly different perspective. First of all, to me it's worth the buck I spent regardless of any subsequent sale or freebie. Second, it's a good game with the potential to be great if the dev gives it a little post release update love. The game is obviously doing poorly based on GC and AppStore reviews. I just want to see more people playing, more visibility for the game, more sales after the free promotion, and hopefully updates chris1a Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2010 1,335 1 0 Sweden #15 chris1a, Mar 26, 2013 Agreed. But I believe a dev (or publisher) needs to find other ways to make their product visible, like advertising, viral etc. Or, just move on. Anyway, it's a cool game so do check it out! awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #16 awp69, Mar 26, 2013 Well, I'd say the tracks and sense of speed, etc., are quite like Wipeout in Repulze. Even Wipeout had time trails and non-race events. The polarity thing, yes, is different, but track design and the like is much closer to Wipeout than Skyriders. Anyway, not going to debate that because I was disappointed at first with Repulze for not having racing events but once I got into the game I was hooked and even without opponents, it gave me that insane speed feeling of Wipeout. As for this game, the more I play it, the more I do like it. I agree that it is one of the better opponent-based Wipeout clones on iOS. I still think Protoxide Death Race is also one of the best, even though it is outdated. Hopefully both this game as it improves and Repulze (with this week's update) will fill the void for people wanting a Wipeout rush. Don't take that to mean that this game isn't good. It is and well worth a try. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #17 MidianGTX, Mar 27, 2013 You know what was also v1.0? Final Fantasy VII. Metal Gear Solid. Symphony of the Night. What cost more than a buck? What are all console games? All the games you just named. Anyway, this is a complete game, and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone buy it expecting it to be more than it currently is, which is pretty darn good for a 1 dollar, or free for the time being, mobile game. It's a different world now though. Many things appear on the AppStore a bit unpolished and subsequently see updates that turn them into gems. We can always hope. On another note, it's good to see the leaderboards have like 5 times as many people as earlier today Karma32 Well-Known Member Apr 12, 2010 230 0 0 #20 Karma32, Mar 27, 2013 Seriously? This game is submediocre. Cuz this is the closest thing u get to a decent WO clone, doesn't make it good. Is this alpha-feel build what passes off for quality in an iOS racer these days?
