But hey, to be honest, this is easily worth $4.99, so $1.99 is a darn good price. They updated it a few days ago to fix some of the issues with frame rate, and I can report that on the iPad Mini there is no dropped frames now. For people who were on the fence, this is your chance now. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #5 awp69, Jul 2, 2013 Yeah, sucks for those who bought it an sounds like the latest update made crashes and other problems worse. I'll pass until someone brings a more updated rally racer to iOS with controls that work well. Xeyad Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2012 303 3 18 #6 Xeyad, Jul 2, 2013 On the iPad Mini, the performance is perfect. It used to crash a lot before the update, and there were some dropped frames, but it's fine now. However, as with many big games, you need to have some free space on your iOS device. dnk Well-Known Member Apr 15, 2010 768 1 18 #7 dnk, Jul 3, 2013 By perfect, do you mean a constant 20 fps, 30 fps or 30+ fps? (I don't expect it to have 60 fps?) JaysUsernam Active Member Sep 1, 2012 36 0 0 #8 JaysUsernam, Jul 3, 2013 Bought it a couple of days ago at 'full price' and don't regret it at all! Best racer on iOS, $2 is a steal!! It's more realistic and not arcade like in handling. Haven't played this version but from what I remember of the Xbox game, you also are racing against the times of the other drivers -- not actually racing. Anyway, it's not for everyone IMO. I like both types of games but have heard mixed things about this port. RoboWarrior Well-Known Member Oct 3, 2012 658 0 16 #14 RoboWarrior, Jul 3, 2013 I've heard it is not a true port but rather based off of and extremely similar to. This uses unity assets and unity engine. dnk Well-Known Member Apr 15, 2010 768 1 18 #15 dnk, Jul 3, 2013 What about framerate compared to NFS MW or RR2 or Asphalt? Gov Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2013 2,257 0 0 #16 Gov, Jul 3, 2013 Why do apple do this? They reduce prices after, making people mad. jeffyg3 Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2010 1,251 0 36 #17 jeffyg3, Jul 3, 2013 Sales over. It's up to the developer, not Apple. Made me happy for $2. I wouldn't have been mad paying $5 for this, it's easily one of the best racers on mobile. Xeyad Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2012 303 3 18 #18 Xeyad, Jul 3, 2013 In terms of gameplay, this is a much different game than NFS or Asphalt. This is a rally off-road racing game, and the physics are more realistic than those games. Damage in this game affects the car's performance badly, so you need to be careful on how you drive. There are no other cars racing you side by side, instead this game focuses on your lap times. It's very fun overall if you're into sim racing games and into rallying. To be honest, I'm not sure if this is a direct port or not. What I can tell you is that if you ever played the original, this feels so similar but with better graphics, but fewer cars and fewer maps. I would say on the iPad Mini, the framerate is similar to NFS MW. MeanTuna Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2012 752 0 16 Writer #19 MeanTuna, Jul 3, 2013 Exactly the way I feel about it. I didnt get this when it came out as racers arent really my thing but I did had fond memories of the original so I bought it at the sale price and it does feel very similar to the one I played years ago. Ive only tested it on my 4s and it works very well, I would say 30 fps without any hiccups and overall steady performance. I dont think ill try it on my ipads as I feel it controls remarkably well on the tiny screen. Good game, but as Xeyad said if you dont like sim-like racers then this probably wont change your mind. robberbaron Member Jan 17, 2013 7 0 0 #20 robberbaron, Jul 3, 2013 does Colin McRae personally endorse this product lol (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
