His ships never returned to an Orlandrian port and he was feared lost until a mysterious cargo appeared recently in Miramar. The nature of this cargo will put Orlandes in jeopardy, sending you on an epic journey to find Cortez, save the country and face your darkest fear!" "For those of us who grew up with the Fighting Fantasy books, this is almost like a homecoming. It’s a great modern equivalent to the books many of us loved as youngsters, with the same kind of attention to detail and thrilling fantastical touches that made these adventures so enjoyable. A splendidly written interactive fantasy story that will keep you hooked until the very end." - POCKETGAMER (8 out of 10 review) "...a series of lovingly crafted and extremely well-written interactive fantasy novels. It's surprisingly engrossing stuff, the economically written narrative packing in masses of detail, while rattling out a pacey, involving story." - THE GUARDIAN "Gamebook Adventures are fun to read – not just because the RPG mechanic draws you in and engages you in the story, but also because the stories are good fantasy fiction. The artwork is great and there is a great deal of replayability in the application, especially when you consider the hundreds of choices that can be made and the various difficulties." - WIRED.COM "After finally making my way through the series’ newest release, I’m somewhat ashamed that I’ve waited so long to take the plunge..." - 148APPS "I've had an absolutely fabulous time playing through them, and highly encourage anyone interested in fantasy novels to check 'em out." - TOUCH ARCADE •Includes all the interactive reading and gameplay features found in the previous Gamebook Adventures titles. •Read the story and dictate the direction of the story! They were my fav dev team, first day buy. If you plan a sale so early, just do a proper sale. Plus a play on iPad, hence I still cannot properly play. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #3 medianotzu, Oct 30, 2011 Personally I really like the devs and really want to support them so I don't mind the price drop but I hope they don't start getting flamed here because of the early sale. I really love gamebooks and want to see them do well so I hope the sale only helps... It should be said, also, that anyone who has a passing interest NEEDS to download this now--it's just excellent. I love the new interface and ability to resize the text as well, by the way. I hope that stuff comes to the rest of the series. UmbraVir Well-Known Member Sep 4, 2011 491 0 0 Student CT #4 UmbraVir, Oct 30, 2011 Thanks for the sale! This will be my first gamebook that I will buy.(I never knew that they were even in the appstore until this sale). If I like it, I'll look at the other ones too sapphire_neo Well-Known Member Jan 20, 2011 3,936 0 0 #5 sapphire_neo, Oct 30, 2011 Unexpected but welcome nonetheless. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #6 medianotzu, Oct 30, 2011 If you guys like this one then definitely look into the rest of the series while it's on sale. The whole series is excellent with a really high production level and great interface, better optimized for iPhone/iPod Touch than any other gamebooks and of course is even better on iPad (it's one of the only things that I have seen on iPad so I don't know how it compares to say, Fabled Lands on iPad but it really is incredible how great the series looks and functions on all iOS devices.) My personal favorites are books 1, 3, and 4, but again, they're all great. UmbraVir Well-Known Member Sep 4, 2011 491 0 0 Student CT #7 UmbraVir, Oct 30, 2011 How long does it take to get through one of them? (on average that is) UmbraVir Well-Known Member Sep 4, 2011 491 0 0 Student CT #8 UmbraVir, Oct 30, 2011 I see. I'll try out this one when I get the time and decide on getting the other ones (pretty busy atm, but have an addiction of putting apps onto my iPhone ._.) It sounds real good though. spyky Well-Known Member Oct 18, 2010 567 0 0 #9 spyky, Oct 31, 2011 I have bought all other numbered gamebook adventures already.. So of course this is a must buy.. tblrsa Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2009 1,099 0 0 Vienna #10 tblrsa, Oct 31, 2011 Thanks for the sale, bought. Juuicetin Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2010 185 0 0 #11 Juuicetin, Oct 31, 2011 I feel the same way. I am a little disappointed that early adopters got suckered in at paying the higher price with a 99c sale only a few days in, but I feel that they deserve more recognition and I can forgive them because they're a hard-working, small company and they make top of the line gamebooks. I have been following them since their first gamebook release so I can sympathize. I hope everyone on the fence takes advantage because they deserve more popularity. jase23 Well-Known Member Jul 30, 2009 207 0 16 #12 jase23, Oct 31, 2011 It is a great deal at the initial sale price, and it is a great deal at 99 cents. It's not like they dropped the price from $4.99 to $.99. Besides, I have bought several of these Gamebook Adventures at $4.99, and it was tremendous value when you consider the quality of the writing, the artwork, the music, and the RPG mechanics and dice animation. I'm going to support the developers all the way, because they are doing amazing things that have never been done before in the realm of gamebooks that have evolved beyond physical pen and paper. I want more Gamebooks, and so I want the developers to do whatever they need to do to popularize this genre, including running sales. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #13 drelbs, Oct 31, 2011 I paid $2.99 for this one, a few others and $4.99 for two of them. I've been nothing but happy with the apps, and if I had to pay $4.99 for them all to keep getting more of them, I'd be happy to. At 99 cents, I've gifted it to a few people, it's that good of a deal! Grabbed it when it was on sale a few months ago and I was really impressed by the writing and how everything is presented. I think there were some problems with the dice(has been fixed I heard) then which punctured my enthusiasm for the game. I will probably have to pick it up and finish it one of these days. nfong Well-Known Member Aug 30, 2011 1,186 1 38 #17 nfong, Jul 17, 2012 Wow, really really impressed with the game. Got lucky and managed to discover the "best" ending on my first try (on the easiest difficulty nonetheless xP ). Already playing through again to check out the other story branches. Definitely going to be taking a look at the other Gamebooks, also. VOGamer Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2011 107 0 0 #18 VOGamer, Jul 17, 2012 Only beaten 1 Gamebook, and yet to play the other 3. However, I can't resist buying another one. It's that good! Mature handheld game with great story. SOLD! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
