Can we perhaps make this an unofficial thread for all questions regarding "What is the best game of a certain category"? Compilations are great!

Regarding this, I do have such a question. What is the best word game app? There's an overwhelming cornucopia of mentioned games, that when I play one, I always wonder if the grass is greener elsewhere, in another similar app.

The top ones I've found so far are Abca and HexaLex. Any good mentions?

Glad you like HexaLex! I haven't tried Abca yet but it does look slick.

I'm biased on word games, but I'll say that my favorite "pretend to be a detective/lawyer" game is Phoenix Wright. ;)

    A+ Phoenix Wright is enjoyable.

I also enjoyed HexaLex (thanks Nathan ;)) and I am in Love with Moxie 2 and Jumbline.

I havn't even played Hexalex, but you're now an awesome developer. That said, it looks like a pretty awesome word game.

And for broad genres, here's my top games:

Adventure: Phoenix Wright, Broken Sword, Monkey Island 1/2
RPG: Chaos Rings, Final Fantasy, TNA Wrestling
Action: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Hero of Sparta II, Hybrid: Eternal Whisper
    ARPG: Necromancer Rising, Zenonia 1/2
Shooter: Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies, Brothers in Arms 2, Archetype
Fighting: Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior, Street Fighter IV, Blades of Steel
Turn Based Strategy: War of Eustrath, Rogue Planet, MechoWars
Action Sports/Racing: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, 2XL ATV Offroad, Jet Car Stunts
Casual: Fruit Ninja, Fastar!, Tilt to Live
    Horror: Prisoner 84. That's it.

I think that about covers everything.

I see you say Sigma is the best match 3. I'm just getting into the genre, is that widely considered to be the one to get? Any others? I have Chop Sushi.

Puzzle Quest is the only Match 3 game you'll ever need.

I played a ton of puzzle quest and then just suddenly lost interest. It's like overnight I got sick of matching gems.
