Many people have been experiencing a common issue with the 3.0 firmware where a newly purchased app displays the wrong icon. For Example, you buy Star Hogs and install it, but the Sims 3 icon shows up instead of the Star Hogs icon. I have developed a solution that has worked every time for me, and here is how it is done: 1.Uninstall the app 2.Reinstall the app from within the device via wifi or 3G 3.When the app starts to install, pause it by tapping the icon. 4.Force restart the device by holding the sleep and home buttons. 5.Resume the download;the app's icon should be a grayish box at this point 6. When it is finally installed you should have the proper icon Hope this helps a lot of frustrated people!

Yeah this method works, hopefully 3.1 won't take too long to be released since I haven't experienced any icon problems in any of the beta versions of 3.1.
I had the same prob. But to fix it, i just deleted the apps with the wrong icon from my phone, and re installed them from iTunes. Works fine now.
That won't work so well when every single app you have other than the default ones have the wrong icon, which is what happened to me almost immediately after i upgraded. I ended up restoring =/
Man, I really hope Apple fixes this problem... it seems like I always have this icon issue. Even though my method works, it's still a pain to do it.
If the app icon that is messed up is the cydia app. You can't uninstall it and reinstall it while pausing etc...
