Apple touts the ipod touch as the funnest ipod ever. Do you guys find the battery life dismal for gaming purposes? Sure, the battery lasts well enough as a mp3 player alone, but when it comes to gaming, the device just can't compete with the DS or PSP.

How many hours of gaming are you able to get from your ipod touch before you get a 20% alert?

Please do not reply if you are using iphone, because the battery life may be different.

    I find that

    a) It depends on what I'm playing,
    b) Usually there is enough battery life for me to play until I reach a power source.

yea my response is pretty much same as Hmar. i used to have a watch, and if i needed to charge the battery i just shook it a bit and it would recharge the battery, ive always thought itd be cool if Apple somehow implemented this into the idevices :p

It's what stops me being willing to pay lots of money for games
    I bought Scribblenauts for £20
I can play that for a whole plane journey on full brightness, then in the airport and on the journey to wherever, I have never run out of battery on my DS

But with my Touch's games I can only play for 2 hours, so why would I buy a game for a decent amount of money when I won't be able to play it for as long as I want?

I'd say it averages 3hrs for my 3rd gen.

Derek you would need to shake the iPod touch a hell of alot to be able to run it :p

yes, that is one of my arguments in the other poll about how much to pay for iphone games too!

my ds needs to be charged only once every few days, the psp a little more frequently, and the ipod touch at least once a day (note: at least once)!

what is worse is, for the ipod touch, it doesn't come with a charger (needs to connect to a usb power source).

on all three platforms, i am comparing casual games with 2D graphics only. the ipod touch will perform worse if playing 3D games.

I usually get 3-4 hours on my 1st generation iPod Touch playing the games I like to play (casual puzzle games).

i fixed my battery life problem a few weeks ago when i visited the staples near my house and they had APX UPBP110 portable battery pack on clearance (because the its discontinued) it was the best purchase i ever made in my entire life. i get a good 10 (can get up to twelve depending on settings) hours of play time with the both the ipd battery and the battery pack. and it charges in my usb port for about two hours if you have a staples near you you should get one if they have them it was only fifteen dollars
