It is a turn-based race, which is not about being fast, but being smart. Steer your kart safely through varying race tracks and figure out the shortest routes.Features:- twenty pre-constructed race tracks, plus customizable random track generator- three sceneries: Go-kart Track, Desert Rally and Virtual Grid- good A.I. opponents- two different game modes: Race and Time AttackYou control your kart by selecting its destination points on a two-dimensional grid. The available locations of these points are dependent on your previous moves and determined using a simple vector technique. You can play in two modes: a Race mode, where the goal is just to be the first at a finish line, or a Time Attack mode, where you need to figure out the fastest and shortest path through a race track. Besides twenty pre-constructed tracks, the game offers a random track generator, thus providing practically countless challenges. I have to give this a try. repapermunky Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2012 624 0 0 #3 repapermunky, Nov 16, 2012 Never mind. Cool concept. Gonna try it now. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #4 nightc1, Nov 16, 2012 Played the first few missions, so far I'm really loving this. This is a pretty fresh experience for me. I'm not 100% yet sold on it, gotta play more missions first... but I think this has potential to be brilliant. It all depends on a vector system that itself never changes. It's how you maximize that system to navigate each track that makes the game interesting. And the randomized tracks really will keep this game from getting boring, unless you totally master the system itself, then it might grow a little stale on you. I still think a game like Racer Feud edges out this game slightly in the replayability department, but this game certainly has alot of playability to it. And for a another take on turn based racing, try out PicoGT Tactics. Similar to Racer Feud in that it uses gears, but instead of a die roll it uses a flick mechanic and your car moves a set distance depending on your gear, and you can go one up or one down (or stay on the same gear) each turn. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #6 drelbs, Nov 16, 2012 This is a great adaptation of the old pen & grid paper racing game (TriPlanetary is an excellent space version) and the random courses are welcome. Highly recommended, if only to give people a taste of how we used to play games before we had computers... nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #7 nightc1, Nov 16, 2012 I couldn't find PicoGT Tactics on the AppStore using my iPhone (same for TriPlanetary, though that may not be an app?). Racer Feud looks pretty decent with the multiplayer side based on the description. Since one track was free I downloaded it to give it a try. It required me to create an account without giving me an option to play offline. I guess there's no offline side to the game? I deleted it, I'm not ready for online. I think for now I'll stick with digging deeper into Grid Race since it has the small missions (Grid Tour) to build up my skill and stuff and I'm not ready for Random Race or Time Attack let alone an online multiplayer game that's similar (though one day, I may be interested in that). If anyone has other recommendations of similar free games (or paid games that have free trial versions), I'll give em a look. Makes sense now.. it's not PicoGT but PicoGP. Weird it shows no reviews yet. I may put a tracker on it for later inquiry. On AppsFire Deals it's showing 54/100 on the current score... also shows it's been Free before. Tonight I'm planning to play more Grid Race. Just got Great Big War Game as well as a few other games I need to put some time in with. And thank you, MrMojoRisin, for recommending related titles on the App Store. I've checked them out already and I think they are really different type of fun. If you're looking for other takes on this specific mechanic, look up "Dash Race" or "Vector Rally" (if it ever comes back). (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
