Payload 2D Physics Truck Driving Game

We just submitted a physics-based game I worked on as the developer called Payload. Pending Apple's approval, we're looking to launch very soon.

In the meantime, I am looking to recruit some early adopters to help us get the word out and test out a pre-release version of Payload.

PM me or e-mail ([email protected]) your iPhone UDID and we'll send you a pre-release copy of Payload.

    More info about Payload:

    Website: http://prop.gr/payload/
    Twitter: http://twitter.com/payload_Buck/
    Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Payload-Buck/187672481552

    How to play
Drive Buck and his truck across the landscape from job to job, catching falling items to earn his Payload. Drive through Quarries, Forests, Cities, and the Arctic Tundra (More levels to come!). Catch as many items as you can, but beware of items too big to catch. A two ton boulder could crush the truck.

    Thanks!

There is still a chance to sign up for testing 1.1, with some improvements we worked on the last 2 weeks.
    PM me your UDIDs :)

Can I suggest real quick to tighten the controls up? Seems like no matter how carefully I tilt my device, I either roll full speed to the left or right.

I can see the game needs this just from watching the video.

    Accelerometer Controls

We worked on tuning the accelerometer for quite a while, some players liked it more sensitive, other less. In the video Ben is purposely tilting the iPod quite a bit for effect. In the current version you don't have to tilt it very much, it is sensitive, but not overly so as to be shaky, the truck ramps up in speed with the angle of tilt.

I hear you though, I will add a accelerometer sensitivity and damping setting in the control panel in the next update.

We extended the promotion with http://appventcalendar.com for a another day, Payload is FREE again today for a final day.

Normally not an accelerometer fan (blasphemy I know) and for that reason I find I am crashing the truck, not really picking things up like I should, etc. Can simple arrows be added to move it left and right? I find that to be more accurate and then no worries about the sensitivity issues. You can always have each as an option for the player who likes either.

From my standpoint, if I see a game that has ONLY accelerometer controls I usually pass it up just on that point alone.

Thats a great idea, I would love to see the control option to use arrows, like side-scrollers use. I'd feel way more comfortable playing, and frankly, after awhile of playing any game that requires constant tilting etc. I grow weary.

Guys I think this is a great idea also!

I can work on the new controls for the release following 1.1, would you both be willing to help us test the new controls methods?

PM or email me your UDIDs if you are interested,

Sure I don't mind. I'll PM you my UDID in a bit, my Touch is currently plugged in playing music in the other room [even though, sadly, I've nearly memorized it from sending it out so much lol :p]

I haven't tested any apps before, so I don't know what the UDID is? Is it our devices serial number. If you can tell me, I would gladly test updates! I love the game, it is highly addictive!
