I posted awhile ago an early development video of what I've done so far (see the earlier upcoming games thread here). I've done a lot of work on it since then and I promise I'll post more video soon (like, probably later this week). But in the meantime, I need more ideas for things in my game! In short, teh internets WILL BE THE MOST EPIC GAME of the 21st century! You fly your trusty roflcopter through teh internets, interacting with various objects. Your roflcopter is full of lollerskaters, and you can collect more lollerskaters for extra lives. You're chiefly concerned with picking up lolcats, but teh internets is a dangerous place so you also have to dodge popup windows, not to mention the place is crawling with trolls! You get points for feeding them cheezburgers, but you have to be careful because there are different types of trolls. The average trolls get smaller with each cheezburger, the ruthless trolls get bigger with each cheezburger, and then there are flaming trolls who get huge when you feed them, and they shoot insults at you. The game is falling into place very well. I'm envisioning the gameplay to end up being basically a lot like in Run!, where you try to survive teh internets for a period of time and at regular intervals a new object (internet meme) gets introduced to the mix. The problem is, I need more good ideas for game objects. So here comes the contest. I have 10 promo codes with your names on them! (Technically I don't have them yet, but I will once the game is in the App Store.) Post your ideas for objects in this thread and if they're clever, I'll use them in the game. If I use your idea I'll make sure to save a promo code for you when the game is released. And to keep things interesting, I'm limiting it to 10 good ideas, and I'm ending the contest at the end of next week, so Friday Oct 23. What are you waiting for? What about firewalls or viruses? I like the idea of viruses that automatically chase after you, or a firewall that you must pass through as quickly as possible, or you'd die/you'd have to figure out how to get past it (Puzzle element!!) Firewall: You could also jump above it/under it. (Helicopter, JetmanJack etc...)
-pop ups you have to dodge that proclaim you're the "1 millionth visitor, click here to claim your prize!!!" -LOL or WTF type messages if you die
How about longcat as one of the bosses? He or she is so long that you'll have to fly up for a long time while shooting the body. There could be two or three stages to the boss: First stage: The feet are trying to stomp you and occasionally the longcat falls down trying to smash you. (feet could be weak spot) Second stage: The hands/arms are swiping at you and the body is moving a lot so you'll have to dodge the body and the arms while shooting the arms (arms could be weak spot) Third stage: Finally the head after a long flight upwards. Longcat is shooting lasers from it's mouth at you and is swiping you a bit from the bottom of the screen. (weak spot could be mouth or eyes) Just an idea.

This is great! I love the viruses and firewalls idea, I think I'll probably add them both! (thanks DGH94, you'll get a promo code) I'm still pondering the other ideas... while I think that the longcat is hilarious, I'm not sure that this game will actually have bosses. But if I do decide to include bosses I'll definitely consider. Keep the ideas coming!
Maybe the trolls can shoot badly constructed english at you (that takes away a lollerskater of course) like: "1 am teh ubah hax, feel teh maxxx ov mah skillzzz!" Also, lolcats will have to be incorporated somehow...
Don't worry there will be lolcats galore. One of the main focuses of the game is picking up lolcats during your journey through teh internets. Also, since the lolcats (and other characters) have quite a bit of bad grammar in there, I'm thinking the trolls will throw things at you like "$!@%" and "&$#@". Also I'm not only looking for new objects for the game, but also pretty much anything that can make it more epic. For example, you pause the game by pressing "brb", then you can resume by pressing "k, im back", or you can quit by pressing "g2g laterz".
- Dial up (you hit a certain point in the game, the roflcopter will slowly lag....then a screen will freeze and a pop up will show saying "Please refreash or restart internet" - Spam Mail (A series of mail shoots toward the roflcopter, slowing it down but not losing any health) - Virus (Will attach to the roflcopter, jamming the blades. causing a malfunction. You can break away by shaking the iDevice (iPod Touch or iPhone) - Identity Theft (The roflcopter will lag, then a hand will pick it up. Then the hand throws your roflcopter down, losing a life. Then the hand drops down a red roflcopter that will fly away taking 10 points away every minute - Cox Boost (Roflcopter will speed up for about 10 seconds with nothing in its way) - Worms (slowly eating away roflcopter, If roflcopter touches the worm) More to come.....I'm tired..........aslo make an ad saing "Foozelz sees you" float randomly
Dude......that was David after Dentist...that was EPIC!!! but he can't put that on without the users permission....but i can imagine that being in the game
how about a porn video joking but maybe you can have music notes flying around, or a message that says "this program is not responding"
- Make the trolls say "plz k thx" after they're given a cheezburger. - Those ads that show the high school girl and boy, and say they're married and has -- kids. Know that type of ad? I've seen that one way too much... - Rick Roll! Make that a boss. The smouch.com/lol (?) website (you try to quit, but can't, Never Gonna Give You Up plays to the end), when the windows pop up, showing the lyrics, you have to dodge every window. The hint to complete it would be to move to the area where a window disappeared. Meh, not exactly good at describing via text.
or maybe put that famous text when u search "find chuck norris" on google, click im feeling lucky and it says "google will not search for chuck norris because google knows you dont search for chuck norris, chuck norris searches for you"
lol, these suggestions are awesome. I of course can't just use anything off youtube because I don't own the rights to them, but I think there's a lot I can do. So for the Instructions I was originally thinking it'd be like playing the game but there would be a lolcat telling you what's up with everything and how it all works. Maybe it should be a dramatic chipmunk instead?! Thoughts?
