Price dropped down to 69p... I can't decide if this game is old or new school! It's simple match two, playing against remorseless spinning hands and loads of gem types. To me, it feels like an old school game and watch concentration game that's ALL about the score and having quick thumbs. To my girl, she loves the colourful chilled out vibe and the simple gameplay! Anyone else seen this? Nineoverten gave it a great review, would love to hear opinions while is cheap. The studio have something big up their sleeve fr early next year, so if you have some time over Xmas, pick up Spin Gem, get the scoreboard and achievements battle going and give Waggle Games some love!
Well it usually helps a lot in these forums if you add a link. I'm asking for thoughts on whether you can support and appeal to core and casual in the same game, and I am using Spin Gem as a reference point. That's all! I just got thrown because the vibe from the original post was too hip -- more like an enthusiast raving about a fav then a developer telling you what the game actually is! Plus, you'd be surprised how many times developers do pretend to be random posters. Good luck. Waggish Member Aug 15, 2011 12 0 0 #7 Waggish, Dec 22, 2011 Last edited: Dec 22, 2011 Lol.... My name would be a bit of a giveaway, no? I don't know why people pretend like that, but I'm sure loads do. Anyhoo, i think the game speaks for itself, I just don't have the 25 thousand dollars required to market it! None of the WAGGLERS do. What I'm most interested in is building dialogue and connections with our audience and stimulating a bit of thought and maybe even discussion? Can a game be causal and core together? Which games have done that? Does SPIN GEM succeed? There are other avenues that don't cost a lot of money. Most indie developers make the real big mistake of not marketing the game before it's released. That means going on twitter, facebook, popular forums like this, and posting pictures, info, and maybe a demo video on your game before it's released. Have to get people interested beforehand. And when it's finally released, you need to keep marketing it like that...a release trailer would help, passing out some promo codes so members on this forum (more importantly the more active members) can talk about it and suggest it to others. Seriously though, it's hard for me personally to excited about this kind of game without some kind of demo video or trailer showing how the game plays in motion. Waggish Member Aug 15, 2011 12 0 0 #9 Waggish, Dec 23, 2011 Yes, it's a real issue. Thanks for the tips... Will pass them on. Waggish Member Aug 15, 2011 12 0 0 #10 Waggish, Dec 27, 2011 The hands rotate and the idea is to position identical gems opposite each other. Sounds pretty easy but the game ebbs and flows as more gems are added and hand speed increases. Its easy to get caught off guard, and is easy to get lost in the spinning hands. I use the game to focus and concentrate on the gameplay first, but after a few minutes, I find myself thinking about all kinds of stuff! Maybe you remember the game and watch series from Nintendo in the 80's? We wanted similarly simple gameplay that was all about quick thumbs, arcade timing and pure focus. It's good for that!
