    Hello all,

Yes, another roguelike is going to be released at the end of this month! :)

The game is called Down In The Deep and it will be an universal app for all iOS devices.

This forum is the first place I have shown the game as this forum is very active and has a lot of roguelike game enthusiasts.

    I have attached a couple of screen-shots.

Definitely interested! Liking that the screenshots are unconventional for the genre, I love roguelikes but they're generally guilty of playing it safe both visually and mechanically so anything that mixes it up is good to see. Would also love to know what the game is titled so I can look out for it on the AppStore and get childishly excited when I find it!

Thanks for the interest. Those are the first screen-shots of the game shown to the world so I am glad some people find it visually interesting :)

I will be releasing the name of the game when the game has gone to the app store for approval.
It will not have the words "dungeon", "rogue" or "quest" in the title though.

Here is the feature list -

    - 40 massive randomly generated dungeons! (Day / Night dungeons and *Final* dungeon)
    - Randomly generated dungeon loot / items (with ranking system)
    - Thousands of loot / item variations!
    - 30 spells available
    - Special NPCs with dialog (bosses, traders, friendly and quest characters)
    - Buy and sell loot / items with trader characters!
    - Choose from three player character classes (Warrior, Mage and Ranger)
    - Player character level and attributes can be leveled-up
    - REAL TIME movement / combat!
    - Normal (resurrection on death) / hard (permadeath) game difficulties
    - Permanent / persistent game world
    - Automatic game saving
    - Flexible item management system
    - Multiple quests spread over different dungeons!

Feel free to ask about anything the game.

I am not sure how the roguelike purists will take to the real-time movement and combat but for me it adds a sense of urgency and it makes a refreshing change from turn-based games.

will fcourse instabuy as I do with all such games, but its a bit funny how you outline real time as a good thing. For me, personaly, turn based is one of the most important aspects on the "berlin interpretation" list :)

I personally think it's kind of creepy when people use only heads to represent characters in their games, but that is just my opinion.

"Here’s to the crazy ones — the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs

Soooo, why is the name being kept a secret? What if someone wanted to find out as much as they could about it but couldn't find it except on here

    Also... more screenshots! haha

    New screen-shot of a dungeon mini-map.

The character with a blue background is a trader. I used different colour backgrounds to represent special characters :

    Green - friendly NPC
    Blue - trader NPC
    Yellow - quest NPC

There are doors and chests on the deeper dungeon levels. Some doors and chests are locked and need chest and door keys to open.

Lock-picks can also be used to open doors and chests.

    Silly, nitipicky question here...

    Hello,

Looks good! Just curious: are all the PC choices human or other?

For example, is the Ranger human or Elven? Dwarven Warriors, etc?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

There 3 player character classes Warrior, Ranger, and Mage available and they are all human.

Once the game is published I can add some new non-human player classes with unique stats and abilities.

The current 3 different player classes have different stats (health, stamina and mana levels and some max character attributes are higher).

Also, certain weapon / accessories items can only be used by a set player character class. For example -

Warrior - only character class that can use hammer weapons and body armor.
Ranger - only character class that can use bow and cross-bolt weapons and enchanted clothing.
Mage - only character class that can use wand weapons and enchanted clothing.

Hammer weapons do the most damage in the melee weapons range (sword, axe and hammer) but they also have
    slower attack cool-down times.

Wand and cross-bolt weapons are similar to magic staff and bow weapons in that they fire magic / arrow projectiles but they only need one hand to use so the other hand is free to carry a shield to increase defence.

That being said, all the player character classes can use ranged magic staff weapons (magic projectiles).
