Keygen website + Advice

Discussion in 'Public Game Developers Forum' started by BlueSpiral, Aug 15, 2011.

  1. Just googled one of my games just to see where it's being mentioned etc and came across a website that was offering a keygen to it. I'm not too familiar with this sort of thing, but has anyone else come across this and is their anything you can do about it?

    Thanks

i hope this does not turn into a thread about how to fight piracy.. in all honesty.. just forget it and keep going.. if you start hunting down illegal copies of your game/app whatever throughout the net thats all you will doing till you die..

I did a quick search and it seems fake so you don't have to worry about anything :)

Anyway, unless your game has some sort of redeem code function to unlock something that you would have to pay for, then a keygen would be completely useless.

Devs will most likely see their work cracked and available for download for free within a few days of release. My advice - forget about it.

  5. I didn't really understand why it was done as most of my games are either FREE or 99c. If people wanted to try the games, they could have just asked me for a PROMO code. Oh well ......... I guess it takes a bit of getting use to.

With all the competition and the important us indie developers play in the market, you'd have thought they'd have gone for the higher priced games.

    Fixed.

It took all of 45 minutes for the first 'cracked' version of our latest game to be tweeted about.
