A game where goats unite to operate awesome gadgetry like portals, elevators and cannons! Goats and Gadgets is an inspiring, addictive puzzle adventure with an endearing character cast and innovative game-play. Gamers will need to rely on their creativity and reflexes to navigate their goats through an evolving array of challenges. Over the course of 40 fun levels, players will need to shoot goats out of cannons, send them through portals and have them operate complex gadgetry like timer-switches, pressure-pads and elevators. All this, while evading and manipulating the creepy critters the goats encounter in their epic quest for their beloved apples. Gamers will have to race the clock as they evade lurking spiders while using their gadgets to intercept hazardous yetis. A yeti's short temper can be used to the players advantage as the goats can lure pesky trolls into the yeti's path for a 'Troll Trashing', disposing of the troll and occupying the yeti in a 'two birds with one stone' type scenario. The orchestration of such manipulative manoeuvres not only attract hefty bonus points but are more often than not, key to solving the puzzle at hand. Rewarding the player on multiple levels for their applied skill and ingenuity. Robogoat Robogoat is a unique character introduced at the end of the second act. A robotic goat, half steel, half awesome, with a paint job reminiscent of the Mustang you've always wanted. Like any other goat, he can be directed with simple flick/swipe gestures. However, he can also be transformed into a cannon and loaded with goats. Players can aim Robogoat and then fire live goats across gaps, through portals and into enemies. Needless to say, this is a whole lot o' fun. It's a platforming puzzle game without IAP, ads or other garbage that ruins games today. Grab this if you like the genre. It's good fun. dave bsg Member Jan 9, 2013 10 0 0 http://www.bigspritegames.com #5 dave bsg, Jun 1, 2013 Thanks nightc1 nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #6 nightc1, Jun 1, 2013 No problem. It's a good game. The other regs here will hopefully give it a shot since I don't give recommendations to just any game. Originally I threw a simple 4/5 star score up, but I finished the first half of the game and went ahead and wrote a review and bumped te score to 5/5. I'm enjoying replaying those first 20 levels just to try and up my position on the leaderboards. dave bsg Member Jan 9, 2013 10 0 0 http://www.bigspritegames.com #7 dave bsg, Jun 2, 2013 nightc1 - Just saw your review, thanks so much for the feedback and rating. This is the first iOS game I've made but I put a lot of thought, time and effort into it. Really glad you've enjoyed it! nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #8 nightc1, Jun 3, 2013 Last edited: Jun 3, 2013 It's a solid game from beginning to end. I've gone back and managed to get top spot on the leaderboards for the first three worlds... working on the fourth now. Question: which level is the troll trauma achievement for? I'm guessing as I home in my skills on that last batch of levels it'll just happen, but I'd like to go ahead and wipe it out so I'll have all of them except the twitter/Facebook one (I'm not on either service, gave them up a while back). dave bsg Member Jan 9, 2013 10 0 0 http://www.bigspritegames.com #9 dave bsg, Jun 3, 2013 You guess right, you would come across it pretty soon but if you want to jump straight to it, it's in Act 4, level 8. repapermunky Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2012 624 0 0 #10 repapermunky, Jun 3, 2013 I will be giving this a try for sure. This IS, indeed, a fantastic game. Firstly, the yeti is hilarious when he slaps the sheep all the way to China; I actually laughed out loud. Secondly, this puzzles and game mechanics are exactly what one would want in an iOS puzzler, or any puzzler at all, really. Your first iOS game? Color me impressed. This is the type of game I would absolutely purchase to support a dev. Should you release any other games, I'll be the first to buy. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #13 nightc1, Jun 3, 2013 Thanks, got it. Nicely after that I pushed through polishing my scores in act 4, so now I'm 1st in the world in every category for this game . It's cool how at first I worried that the leaderboards might not be legit, but since I've been able to eek my way up to where I'm at it's added a lot to the game. Typically in other games there's a whole 3-star mechanic to encourage replay, but I like that it wasn't in this game because I think sometimes that can be a deterrent to playing. Hopefully the leaderboards here stay unhacked. dave bsg Member Jan 9, 2013 10 0 0 http://www.bigspritegames.com #14 dave bsg, Jun 4, 2013 @repapermunky - Thanks so much for your kind words and support, really happy you enjoyed the game! @nightc1 - awesome effort! I can see you on the scoreboards. Funny you mentioned hacked scores, I had an issue with that early on with hackers posting impossible scores but Apple sorted it out relatively promptly and haven't had any issues since. I did ponder the 3-star mechanic but it didn't really work so I tried the time based scoring system with the ham/megaphone perks which felt more organic to the existing gameplay. I agree that IAPs and advertising detract from the players experience, though making profit from your game is an art in itself (not something I've done very well, as an unknown indie dev, it's really tough to make even a 99c sale to anyone who hasn't played your game/s before.) so while I don't really like them, I understand the popularity of these monitization options. I've considered doing something like an optional donation as an IAP, so it's less intrusive on the gamer's experience but allows some form of monetization in a free app. Would love to hear your thoughts on this? Thanks again nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #15 nightc1, Jun 4, 2013 I find tip jar IAP acceptable, but anything beyond that is repulsive to me since I don't buy anything through IAP since its a risk. Another option is to make a Lite version of the game so people can try it for free and then throw in some IAP unlocks for the rest of the levels... While also maintaining the separate premium paid version. But regardless of all that, you need some game sites to review this as a paid $0.99 app. Had I read a review and been able to try a lite version, I think I would have easily bought the full version. dave bsg Member Jan 9, 2013 10 0 0 http://www.bigspritegames.com #16 dave bsg, Jun 5, 2013 @nightc1 - OK, interesting.
