Hey Gang, Slipping almost completely under the radar, Loot Master FINALLY got the long promised save function...but is it too late? http://appshopper.com/games/loot-master I like the idea of Diabloesque random loot drops in an almost TD like game with a wide variety of baddies plus ways you can optimize your guy in a glorified moving whack a mole like game, but does it hold anyone's attention? I also get that $5 is still probably a bit much to be asking for a game that is this far past it's primetime, but I'm still almost tempted. I've actually seen a few of the video reviews and I still am not sure if there is something to it EVEN WHEN I know exactly what to expect gameplay wise. Is there a meaningful variety of baddies (are they more than just different graphics and hit points)? Are there different tactics or is there really just one optimal path (like maybe Strength is by far the most important statistic with Wisdom just being something they never figured out any decent uses for)? I watched the video and see how you tap the monsters to kill them, and you get items. However, it's not clear to me how the items work. If not super clear most of the items seem to work passively as various weapons, armor, or jewelry you put onto the upper screen's paper doll figure accordingly (so you can only wear, for example, one helm at a time). CandyNJ66 Well-Known Member Feb 18, 2009 2,927 0 0 Writer #11 CandyNJ66, Mar 28, 2009 Here are some videos that will shed a lot more light on things especially the 7 min+ review that is very detailed about Loot Master. The sound effects are off putting to me. Anyone else feel this way? Does look unique though. I'm wondering why half the screen is taken up by the inventory etc, I wish it was put on the side or something like that but I haven't actually played the game, just seen the videos. AppVee Review tunawrap Well-Known Member Sep 16, 2008 489 4 16 #12 tunawrap, Mar 28, 2009 I bought it a long time ago, and my favorite part is finding the loot. I think the inventory takes up half the screen SINCE that is the big emphasis of the game, hoarding and then managing your LOOT (both a big generic bag and your paper doll to equip the best stuff at the moment). If this game has any halfway decent depth I'm hoping it is never a case of simply just equip the obvious best but more an interesting game of trying to figure out which items work together the best (if you're using some huge damaging weapon you might want to focus on the items that will extenuate your physical stats and forget about you Wisdom enhancing nonsense). djflippy Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2009 4,441 0 36 #14 djflippy, Mar 29, 2009 Waiting... I caved in. Something I saw in a couple of reviews seems outright wrong (maybe it was changed in later versions), but you can sit and play with your inventory AS LONG AS YOU WANT in between levels! So play is as simple as this: 1) Tap on beasties until they die (any who make it off screen to the right will hurt you). 2) Pickup items they drop (you actually may have to do some of this while tapping the baddies). 3) At the end of the wave (could do in the midst of the wave but it's not recommended) go through your loot, equipping the best stuff and tossing the outdated silly stuff. To fully flush the bad stuff you put it all out onto the field and then shake your iphone to have it tossed off the screen. 4) Hit the next wave button and you're back in business! Now with this latest version, while paused, you also have the option of saving the game (I think it even autosaves when you exit even without going into the Pasue/Save function). Something I find interesting so far. While I have seen scads of items to improve my wisdom and mana, I have yet to see a spellbook or really any sort of spell stuff (I'm in the teen levels at the moment). I'm having fun with it so far but can't honestly say it's truly worth the $5 for most folk (I have a weird fascination with RANDOM LOOT). Hey Gang, This is a worthy game, I think. There is a decent amount of strategy in WHAT you choose to equip. Since there are so many different bonuses you'll often face classic decisions like, "Sure this shield offers better protection than my current one but the one I have now has some really sweet stat bonuses"...which is really better? Some interesting little bit I had missed my first several games are the three "Afterlife" slots in my loot bag. Basically the very first three spaces in your Loot Bag are special "Afterlife" slots where you can store three items to carry with you to your next life. Since your hero is never limited in power of items he can equip, it would be easy enough to start the game with some super high level weapon right in the first wave! The catch? You'll need to at least start a new game in your current session for this transfer to take place. If you simply quit out of the game at the end of your last game, when you restart the app to play a new game there will not be any heirlooms waiting for your new guy.
