I just stumbled across this feature, and I'm wondering how does it work? Like, how are you supposed to "read" it.

Rather than simply displaying all posts in a thread in the order in which they were posted, Threaded Mode displays them in a "tree" form showing which replies were made in response to which posts. It can be helpful for following a line of discussion that is interrupted by a lot of intervening posts on other subjects.

Aside from what I feel is an awkward implementation of threaded views, it also suffers from the problem that users who simply click the general "Reply" button instead of the "Quote" button on a specific post are assumed to be replying to the last post in the thread, when in reality they may not be.

Threaded Mode also doesn't like posts with multi-quotes, as it doesn't know where to put them.

Hybrid Mode is very similar to Threaded Mode except that it shows more than one post in the tree at a time.
