http://www.vectrexregeneration.com/ Now theres lots of great apps coming in the near future but this is at the top of my list. A Vectrex app which features fully licensed games of the Vectrex plus a fair few great homebrew ones also. I've been following this a few months now, read on their twitter feed it'll be coming late November. Seen a few screenshots on twitter, looks stunning. For anyone who doesnt know this machine it came out in the very early 80's i think it was, all vector graphics for the games. Looked stunning, when home computers arrived they were expensive, the Vectrex was even more expensive as it had its own screen/joysticks all built into one console, looked great though. The games havent aged as theres still lots of vector games coming out on the app store, just love the look of vector graphics, so crisp and neat. Anyway its going to be icade compatible and sounds like they're doing a brilliant job. Really cant wait for this app, for the Defender/Asteroids games alone !
Looks like it's gonna be awesome. My Vectrex broke when I was a kid and the emulator on my laptop isn't quite up to scratch so this is like a second Xmas.
Vectrex Regeneration Hey everybody, Well, it's taken us the best part of a year to get this far, but Vectrex on iOS is now less than 2 weeks from launch! Get those iCade's ready! Some shots for you below In-App GUI (Vectrex & Game Shelf) In-Game (Minestorm) In-App GUI (Game box) Original 1982 Vectrex Advert (classic!) Meet Team Rantmedia Games http://rantmediagames.com
Any official date yet ? Cant wait for this one !!! How do the controls work non-icade ? Eg for the ipod ? Can you tell us how many games are with the app, how much the add-on packs are and how many more games you get ?
We are officially 8 days from launch Controls outside of iCade are: 'follow' joystick (i.e. tracks your thumb around the screen) with option to view the joystick or not (on iPad - doesn't make sense on iPhone etc) joystick sensitivity slider (to make it easier for the analog games like Hyperspace) configurable button positioning (move, expand, rotate etc) <- this is pretty cool actually. We recognised early on that one of the things we needed to do was make it very configurable from a controls perspective, and we've really tried to give loads of options so you can get it exactly as you want it... Games We're going to launch with 22 games, 4 of which are modern 'indie' games. We're planning on adding more to the list as time goes on - If anyone knows of - or is - a Vectrex developer, then definitely get in touch! Pricing All I'm going to say, is that it is going to be a *bargain*!
Found this vid: http://multiplayer.it/giochi/vectrex-regeneration-per-ipad.html Is this real footage?
Think thats an old prototype as i'm sure the menu looks totally different now. vectrexregeneration - If we're a week away from launch have you got a trailer or a gameplay video you could show us to get us all more excited ?
Heh heh - that's very much an early prototype... We're going to do a quick capture of a gameplay video up today if we can... watch this space.
Looks like I got an iCade just in time for this... Really looking forward to this. With Baldur's Gate, GTA Vice City, Shadow Warrior, and now this, it looks like I'll be having one hell of a retro holiday season. Will it also have "lost overlay" mode, for that authentic experience?
Heh - yeah, you can certainly play without the overlays. On the original Vectrex, I actually always played without them - took too long to get them out of the box! App makes things a bit easier, so maybe you'll change your mind... ;-)
