Music: Beat It -> Great, no other nominations eh? What about Tap Studio, World of Tunes, Beatrider, Rock Band, etc? Racing ->Fast & Furious got nominated while NFSU didn't? Seriously? Sports ->No FIFA 10? Backbreaker football? RPG ->Dungeon Hunter, Ravensword, The Quest, Inotia 2? Strategy -> No Civilization? Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Samurai Puzzle Battle?
Star Defense? A game with no depth at all, which only shines with the 3d graphics, wins Strategy? Must be a joke. Civlization FTW!
Seems to me... But IGN made their choices on GOTY way before the year ended; I guess that's how the big boys roll...
Gamespot and IGN have no clue what they're doing when it comes to i-games anyway. IGN only reviews about 5 a month, when there's at least 5 good games released every week sometimes everyday that are worth reviewing. They just miss way too many games.
i think they chose games who are unique on iDevices i think Toucharacade would have the most acceptable list
Wow... iBlast Moki is the best puzzler. That is awesome! Here is the link to the page. http://bit.ly/7NTt9b
They did beta testing though so they had a taste of the game and that must have been enough. The only game that I would swith around for sure on this list is to put Jet Car Stunts to first place in racing and get 2xl ATV on there somewhere in racing. Thats all for me.
Action- Fail Music- Fail Platformer- Good Puzzle- Correct on #1 Racing- JCS ought to be #2 other than that correct Sports- Spot on, except madden which sucks RPG- Fail, no ravensword, seed, inotia 2, or dungeon hunter Strategy- Epic Fail Award for Visual Excellence- Pretty Good Award for Excellence in Sound- No Aves=Fail Best Multiplayer Game- Solid iPhone Game of the Year- Good except freaking squareball
i feel like some of these picks were chosen to hastily was there like a vote for picks or what? by the way- first post
At first I thougt it was a odd decision but when it comes to awarding a game, in my opinion of course, you have to consider several aspects. I really like Squareball but wouldnt say its the best game and I would probably vote for something else. But on the other hand I really think Squareball deserves the award in the perspective of having a unique and original concept. I mean, many other games is wrapped in great graphics and cool stories. In this case the game actually is the concept. On top of that it has good controls, a great soundtrack, well thought design and its massiv, 40 levels! I found myself still playing Squareball and I bought it when it first hit the market. Compared with other great games I think it´s a genuine product in many quality aspects.
lol. Why does anyone take anything IGN say's seriously anymore. They've got no idea what there talking about.
I hate the big review sites - IGN, Gamespot etc. I prefer sites like Slide To Play, TouchGen, Pocket Gamer and Touch Arcade. They give much better reviews because they specialise in reviewing iPhone/iPod Touch games.
hmmm Jet Car Stunts should have won, and NFS should have been nominated. Sports: Backbreaker Football? Action: Nazi Zombies? Glad Zen Bound and Beat It won something, though
IGN is fail. That's a pathetic list. I certainly wouldn't have picked Suqareball as GOTY. It's not bad, but not GOTY. The rest, almost none of those games are ones I'd have picked for their gategories. But I've never put any faith in IGN anyway, so I guess it shouldn't surprise me.
Wait, Bounce On isn't even nominated for one of the bet platformers? In my opinion, Bounce On is THE BEST platformer for the iPhone.
