Hello everyone, Block Ops is a new, voxel based first person shooter game currently in development for iOs. The game will feature a tongue-in-cheek, humorous look at modern gaming (the modern military shooter subgenre in particular) combined with a destructible, block-based world. Here are some screenshots and a gameplay video: YouTube: video
Not even close; Minecraft uses pixels and very basic polygon models. Voxels are cuboid pixels, with one color and varying sizes. Because of how they're designed, they're actually much less graphically draining than polygons and pixels. You could effectively display billions of voxels on screen, and you would hardly notice the performance hit (so long as your GPU isn't run of the mill or integrated). It's a much more innovative graphical design than Minecraft. Assuming each voxel has physics simulation, bullets could tear through individual voxels, allowing you to make your own entrances in walls and such. For a good game to see what voxels can do, check out Voxatron.
Just as a heads-up to people, this game is made by Rory Harvey. Rory Harvey made Slender-Man, House of Slender, and a bunch of other games that are 100% clones to other games, like a pokemon clone, Mobile Monsters, and around 3 or 4 different minecraft clones. He doesn't make very good games tbh. He posts games and snags a quick dollar, from the willing.
I thought we where getting an ace of spades like game on ios, but the dev isn't that good at making games.
Designed to get people who search black ops ..... Still I always thought minecraft would be better with guns
I actually like the name. It's pretty clever. I don't like that there is no recoil and the movement looks kinda slow...
I think the sole purpose of this game was to make people buy it because of the name, the game looks like it was made in a day.
That's probably because it was made in a day. The guy created many minecraft clones before, so he had the template already done. If you look up what the developer made so far you see that he only makes games which sell at the moment, so he makes a quick buck. Kinda a shame... I wish the dev would take that skill and actually create a game. He'd make more money that way...
No.... Sadly... He wouldn't. What he's doing now he does because it works, selling shit games to people who don't read reviews or look up a game before buying it/ are buying it because it looks like a console/ pc game in the screenshots, or are buying it because of the name... He's probably making BANK, although in a dishonest way.
