Hey everyone, long time touch arcade user, first time posting. Excited to announce that I am currently working on an ios/android game called Bardbarian! Would love to hear what you guys think as we go along, as I know many of you have valuable input. If you'd like to follow along with development please check out http://www.treefortress.com Thanks so much and I look forward to hopefully talking with some of you as we go!
Thanks so much guys! Posting a big update on Monday with some of the work we did these past 2 weeks including animations and effects. For those interested were actually using spriter (brashmonkey.com) to build all our animations so we get beautiful and smooth code driven in-game animations! Excited to share some of the progress! Until then I leave these: http://cl.ly/image/1D252M0f0g3d http://cl.ly/image/3P1c36022a2g
Video Update Very early gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyVkGxEjW1c Featuring our recently added solos!
Looking great! Love that stretch added to his face on that head banging. What are you guys using to make your game?
Thanks so much! Having a lot of fun with the art for this game. We're building Bardbarian on top Adobe AIR, using the Starling Framework for easy GPU based rendering. This lets us easily support iOS, Android, BB10 and Steam (fingers crossed!) with great performance. To generate our animations, we're using a really cool kickstarter funded tool called Spriter, which you can read all about here: http://treefortress.com/introducing-spriteras-play-spriter-animations-scml-with-starling/ Here's a quick benchmark of the kind of performance we're seeing in Flash/AIR: http://treefortress.com/new-spriteras-benchmark/ UPDATE! Currently working on the store/upgrade shop UI: http://cl.ly/image/1W270q2s2W1p
Hi there, you may want to repost your game in the Upcoming section here. I'm sure you'll get much more feedback that way. Welcome to the TA forums and good luck in your development
Bardbarian Hey everyone! My name is Mike Gaboury and I'm working on a game called Bardbarian! About the game: Bardbarian is a mobile game were developing for iOS and Android. You play as Brad the Barbarian, woken up from his sleep to the sounds of his town under siege. Tired of always fighting, Brad decides he wants nothing to do with being a Barbarian anymore, and in a last minute decision, grabs an instrument instead of a weapon. Using his totally sweet axe-lute he sets out to be the bard he always dreamed to be. We're building Bardbarian on top Adobe AIR, using the Starling Framework for easy GPU based rendering. This lets us easily support iOS, Android, BB10 and Steam (fingers crossed!) with great performance. To generate our animations, we're using a really cool kickstarter funded tool called Spriter, which you can read all about here: http://treefortress.com/introducing-...with-starling/ Here's a quick benchmark of the kind of performance we're seeing in Flash/AIR: http://treefortress.com/new-spriteras-benchmark/ You can follow our dev progress via: Our website Twitter Facebook Pics: I'm Currently working on the store/upgrade shop UI: http://cl.ly/image/1W270q2s2W1p The title screen: http://cl.ly/image/3B0K0u3o3Y2H Brad's victory headbang: http://cl.ly/image/1D252M0f0g3d Some very early gameplay (excuse the low framerate, screen recording kills my computer): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyVkGxEjW1c

Adobe AIR and the Starling Framework? Hm, you have piqued my interest. I look forward to reading about your workflow.
Ya those guys sorta scooped us on this mechanic. We weren't inspired by them at all though, rather this little online gem: http://armorgames.com/play/13945/snake-squad
Quick video of how our shop is shaping up! We're hoping to post a playable Desktop demo for your guys soon, Mike is doing some kick-ass work on the Town Art and we can't wait to show it off, we're also starting to get some of the final Audio tracks in and they're sounding awesome (that is not is in the video btw).
