I just recently got IPod Touchs for my whole family primarily for the purpose of handheld gaming and media (we live rural and don't have much use for cell phone service as there is no coverage in our locality). For the same reason I do not have Wi-Fi at home (have to go into town) so I need games that I can play offline. I am an "old time" gamer which means I like card and some board games. I particularly like card games because many can involve a mixture of strategy plus luck - and they are relatively short. I have picked up a selection of games but would also like suggestions of others to explore. This is what I got and particularly like: 1) Kard Combat (I used to play M:TG back in the 90's) 2) Ascension (see above) 3) BANG! 4th of July version (I plan on getting the full version too) 4) Gin Rummy Lite 5) Pente Lite 6) Chicken Dominoes Lite 7) Dominoes (plays a good game of All Fives) 8) Gypsy Cards (plays this great game called Brisca? - but good fun!) 9) Simply Ludo 10) Backgammon Lite 11) Parchis 12) Strongholds Free 13 Harvest Rush (reminds me of Mille Bornes) 14) Uno (the classic) 15) Hearts Free I have picked up some others which I have not yet tried like Phase 10 and Shogi and Go as I want to learn how to play those. Given my tastes any other suggestions out there?
I love card games too. Here's my suggestion based on your previous picks: > Tichu --> A MUST!!! > Reiner Knizia's Poison --> MY FAVORITE!! > Swords & Poker 2 > Fairway Solitaire > Mille Bornes > Reiner Knizia's Money, High society, and Modern Art > Michael Schacht's Gold > Frantic Frankfurt > Dogs Playing Poker > Snatch A Card > It's Alive > Maya Pyramid > Hearts HD > Solitaire Harmony > Elder Signs: Omen > Food Fight > Belote & Coinche (only French explanation) > Cabals (online) If you like board games too then you definitely should pick Tigris&Euphrates and Medici (on sale for 99c now), Carcassonne, Catan, and Ticket to Ride Pocket.
I'll make sure to pick up Tichu as you are now the third person to positively mention that particular game. I just played Bohnanza and really enjoyed that one as well. I just downloaded Cabals and will be looking into Swords and Poker too. I also saw screenshots for an upcoming card game called Haggis which looked interesting. I understand there is a card game version of Catan (Rivals of Catan?) coming to iOS as well. I never played that one, but what do others think about that one
right now I am playing Fairway Golf Solitaire by Big Fish, and it is really good. Seems inline with the other games you like.
For cards, you can't go wrong with Card Shark Collection, and if you ever get an iPad you'll want ISOCards... Others? Carcassonne is a must - well worth the price. Vector Rally and Dash Race are two different versions of the old pen & paper game (which has a similar feel to Formula De) Button Men is a classic 2-player dice game Disc Drivin' has a free version and plays like Pitch Car / Carabande Army of Frogs and/or Hive are good (AoF is a tad simpler and I like the UI better) Wizard Hex is a good looking abstract game Neuroshima Hex might be a bit deep, but is excellent If you like Ticket to Ride, but want to lay track try Wabash Cannonball Not sure if Greed Corp has local multiplayer, but it's an excellent game Don't forget The AMAZEing Labyrinth! (clones exist: Labymania and at least one other I can't remember set on an island...) ...and that's all I can think of at the moment.
Fairway Solitaire hands down is the most addictive card game I've played in awhile. The elements of golf combined with a spin on solitaire should not work but it does here. Plus Big Fish add in cutscenes, mini games, a funny gopher story, commentary, and excellent soundtrack/ sound fx to really bring this game to life. You can download the game for free and I think it's still .99 to unlock the entire game. There are 60 courses and each course ranges between 3-8 holes, ( the holes count as levels all with 3 star ratings) which all have their own strategy elements thrown in.
i think you will also like "space sudoku"... although it's a puzzle game it's very engaging ! http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=FOuv667PM1o
