In advance: yes, I've gone on Google.
I'm looking for a method of recording my ipod touch's screen, for a class project.
I've tried recording in a dark room and lowering brightness (which helps a bit), but nothing seems to be very effective.

    Any suggestions?

(also, I'm using an insignia "HD-DV", if that helps. Yes, I know that my camera is crap.)

    What Kamazar said.

This YouTube video (instructions are for the iPhone, but works for the iPod Touch too clearly shows what needs to be done.

Think he meant to record video off the iPhone screen. Not a snapshot.

Well, if you took like a million snapshots and put them together in a video, it would work. Though even if there were a million snapshots the video would only be like a minute long. LOL.

A million snapshots will be 700 hours worth of video :p

Well, this is helpful and all, but I just wanted a way to record my ipod effectively...

And yes, I wanted to capture video for my project, not screenshots.

I would suggest a HD video camera with auto focus and 10+ megapixels lens.

if you have the right cabling you could probably plug it into your tv then record onto a dvd from the tv video output

I use a Kodak Zi8 High Definition camcorder (You can get them for $159 or cheaper with the holiday sales), please look at my videos in my signature for reference, records the screen just fine and in very good video quality.

If you do not have a HD camera or camcorder, you can still record your ipod screen with a good quality digital camera. If it has a macro mode, use that. Crappy webcams or crap cameras period will not work, it will make the screen "glowing" and ultra bright with no sharpness rendering the video of the screen useless.

You are using a bad camera so maybe you could borrow a much better one. :)

I actually recorded the video for Pocket Kite (previously known as Stunt Kite) with my MacBook camera and it didn't come up great, but it was pretty decent. You could clearly see what was going on and how the controls worked. Don't understand how you could be having trouble with a camera that's better than the crappy 2.0 megapixels I have.
