Here's the link to the bracket: http://challonge.com/sf4voltde1 Rundown of the tournament: - You are allowed to use up to 4 characters that you have listed on the spreadsheet. - Since we have 16 participants, this tournament will consist of 8 rounds lasting 4 weeks. If all the matches for a round are all completed early, the next round will be posted as soon as possible. - The tournament will be a Double-Elimination Bracket Tournament. If you don't know how this works, when you lose once, you are sent to loser's bracket. If you lose again in the loser's bracket, you are knocked out of the tournament. - All but the championship round will be Best 2-of-3 3 round matches. Championship matches will consist of Best 3-of-5 3 round matches. The winner of the loser's bracket needs to win 2 sets to win the tournament. - The breakdown on the weekdays will be Sunday-Tuesday and Wednesday-Saturday. After the first 2 rounds, Sunday-Tuesday will be used for the Loser's Bracket and there will be less matchups on those days. - If there's an attempt by participant#1 to have the match, but no response from participant#2, participant#1 will automatically win the round. In case there's no attempt by both parties for the match to happen, both will be dropped. We have chosen 2 matches a week, so there's no waiting around for matches to be completed. Both will be ongoing at the same. It's just that this one, as it goes on, people will start getting eliminated, so there's still something for us to do if/when we get eliminated from this one.
I'm all for no char restriction. Restricting folks to one or two doesn't prevent counter-picking: it just pushes the counter picking up to the start of the tournament. For instance, my favorite 2 chars are Gief and Blanka, but they are both horrible against Sagat in this version, so it would force me replace one in my 2 char roster in order to deal with someone who has read my roster and chooses to use Sagat against me. I don't see what the big deal about limiting your char is anyhow. If someone wants to use just 1 char, I don't have a problem with that, but part of the fun of street fighter for me is mindgames, and that extends to char choice as well. I'd love to see someone pull out a Makoto or DJ from nowhere. Maybe I haven't prepared against new tactics. If so, he deserves that win. Since I have the chance to switch as well, I don't think it's unfair. I vote for mind games! I vote for free love -er, character picks! I vote for Adon!
2-3 characters is cool. I only say 3 because I kind of agree with Nullroar. My main 2 characters are Dhalsim and Guile, and I don't particularly like playing Cammy with either of them.
I think we'll just stick with 4 characters for the sake of simplicity since everyone is putting up to that many already. Still waiting for responses from people.
