No contest here. Frogatto is the best platformer. The graphics are phenomenal and the gameplay is very good. The dpad takes some gettin used to and I hope they're gonna update to make it smaller and more functional.. But it gets the job done.
Grokion is awesome and Frogatto looks really good. Here's my list of Platformers on my ipod: Grokion Omino Ricky Robo Rush (from Gamebox) PlanetOne Black Tie Adventure Gold Miner Joe (very good game) Superstar Chefs (very good game) Bob's Dream CrocoKong Kiwitiki Check all of those out, they're pretty good.
Rolando 1 & 2, Soosiz, Bounce On 2. And for non-classic platformers (but the best ones on this list pretty much ) Hook Champ Super QuickHook
My favs: (highly recommended ones are bolded) - Rolando - Rolando 2 - Grokion - Soosiz - Pix'n Love Rush - PlanetOne - Omino - Babylonian Twins - Giana Sisters - Super Quickhook - Hook Champ - Frogatto - Plushed
caper caper and caper world. Caper has 3 games in 1 Caper world its free now so u see for ur self http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/caper-world-not-for-kids/id370828137?mt=8
If you love old-school platformers like Mario, Sonic, etc, then you'd love: - Babylonian Twins - Archibald's Adventure - Prince of Persia Retro - Hoggy - Rick Rocketson They're not like Rolando (iPlatformer) or Pix'n Love Rush (where it's just collecting high score without any sense of progression compared to Babylonian Twins or Prince of Persia), but if you grew up in the 8-16 bit era, you'd love those games Other games with good reviews that look promising but I don't have: - Frogatto - Dark Void Zero
Don't forget Qwak! Lots of fun, beautifully made. Though it's more of the oldschool style of score-based, single screen platformers - eg Bubble Bobble.
Grokion is the easily the best traditional platformer. I haven't really enjoyed any other traditional platformers. However Rolando 1, Rolando 2, Hook Champ, and Super Quick Hook are excellent non-traditional platformers
By far, my favorite is Super Quickhook. Everyone who uses their iDevice to play games should own it. It's just an amazing fast-paced platformer with great controls, challenging levels, awesome graphics (16-bit, but with plenty of modern effects), and an endless mode. Plus it gets a ton of support from the developer. Other than that, Soosiz is good, if a bit repetitive, and the Rolandos are awesome. Castle of Magic is just plain bad compared to the other stuff you could get. Grokion is a bit overrated by certain forum members. The design is good, but the controls are even worse than CoM. Also, the difficulty curve is so steep that you can expect to die at least 10 times in a single room. On the other hand, it's very satisfying to blast robots with your arm cannon and is the closest thing to Metroid on the App Store.
