Joining our popular classic games packs including Astraware Solitaire and Astraware Casino, we're pleased to say that Astraware Mahjong has been submitted to Apple for approval. The game has been created with 3D graphics, supports iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with enhanced graphics for iPad and Retina displays, and includes Game Center achievements too. The game will be a Universal binary so you can use it across all your devices, and supports play in both portrait and landscape. It has multiple puzzle layouts and truly solvable puzzles at 3 difficulty levels as well as classic mahjong solitaire (where a solution is not guaranteed) for people who like a real challenge. Here are a couple of screenshots. We'll have a demo video soon as well! If you have any questions about features, we'd be happy to answer them!
Oh, almost forgot. The game has a tutorial included, and there will be a companion website with more info as well!
These are the features that we believe differentiate from others. Astraware Mahjong has a smart autozoom feature that zooms in or out from the play area automatically based on the number of tiles remaining. This is an optional feature which players can turn off if they prefer to zoom manually. The game includes the Mahjong of the Day daily puzzle. Players download that day's featured puzzle at their chosen difficulty level and complete it in their best time to see how they compare with other players worldwide. For people familiar with Astraware Sudoku - this is a similar feature to Sudoku of the Day. Also we have both truly solvable puzzles at 3 difficulty levels - these are puzzles that can all be solved without shuffles, but the harder ones may need more than one attempt to get through without shuffling, and we also have Classic mahjong solitaire puzzles where no solution may be possible without shuffling.
Sounds pretty good. Will there be a lite version, or any other way of trying before buying? I already own a very good version of mahjong, and I'm reluctant to replace it.
That's understandable. We're not planning a Lite version initially as we're focussed on getting the full game out with all the features we want included, but we may add some kind of a Lite version in the future.
We now have a video demo of the game that shows off some features. http://www.youtube.com/v/_IJF3o63t9s
Exciting news! We've just heard Astraware Mahjong has been approved by Apple, so expect to see this live in the App Store tomorrow!
