ive been thinking about this since quite some people say that gameloft isnt that good a game developer.so what are the best and worst games they have released up until NOVA and why?
The ones I like are: Blades of Fury, Castle Frenzy, N.O.V.A (their best game yet), Real Tennis and The Settlers (also one of their best games). Not too fund about the others. Haven't tried Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X though, think that one is great.
Best: N.O.V.A. Worst: Asphalt 5 Notice that's from the gameloft games I have played, not all their games.
Best: NOVA (and I don't even like FPS that much, they seriously did a good job on this one though... take that all the people who think I'm GL-hater ) Worst: Dungeon Hunter (one of the worst RPGs ever, well not as bad as Ravensword, but close), Alone At War (this game has to be a joke), Blades of Fury (worst voice acting ever in the history of video games, about as bad as House of the Dead 1/2 voice acting)
Best: Blades of Fury, Asphalt 4, and Castle of Magic Worst: Bailout Wars, Shrek Kart Worth the Money: Hero of Sparta, Brothers in Arms, Dungeon Hunter, Siberian Strike Not Worth the Money: Earthworm Jim Keep in mind that I paid discounted prices for several of the games (e.g. Asphalt 4 was $0.99) and that opinions may vary. Don't bother with Shrek Kart, though. Unless you enjoy all the speed of turtle races. ________ Honda ct110
Best: BIA, MC: Sandstorm, Tom Clancy's HAWX, Driver, NOVA (the best). Worst: RS 10, NFL 10, Real Tennis, the baseball one (basically all their sports games suck IMO).
Yeah -- the hate for Real Tennis is pretty much incomprehensible to me. It's one of the best sports games in the App Store. Even my parents were impressed, and they're tennis freaks.
Personally, I don't think NOVA is all that great. I think Modern Combat is a better emulation of Modern Warfare than NOVA is of Halo. Sure NOVA looks and sounds like Halo but all the subtitles that raised Halo from forgettable Sci-Fi FPS to a timeless classic are missing from NOVA. The enemies simply charge you after they see you (rendering the sniper rifle useless if you step into the box trigger assigned to the enemies), there's no melee, the enemies don't have any of the subtle character flaws (like shooting the big brutes on the fuzzy patch on their backs), there's no flashlight, there's no zoom except for the sniper rifle, the enemies simply grunt ... there's no funny dialog. I could go on and on. Basically, I liked Halo for all the subtleties Bungie added. NOVA is just another Sci-Fi FPS like many of the other countless faceless titles hosted on the Xbox platform. Sure, it looks good, sounds epic, plays smoothly, and provides fun multiplayer but the soul is just flat out missing which causes the campaign to be pretty boring. Modern Combat being based on Modern Warfare made things easier to swallow I suppose because it's one generic military game based on another. The fact that it looked good, played smooth, and sounded great was all the title required to emulate Modern Warfare. Halo (especially the original) had a lot more in terms of "layers" or soul and NOVA really feels cheap in that regard. The technical aspects of the game are fine, but if you're going to emulate other games it's probably best to stick to other soul-less titles. So in the end I think Modern Combat is Gameloft's best title. It was the first game to execute FPS controls flawlessly on the platform and that alone makes it worthy and memorable.
