    Hi folks,

We're Astro Ape Studios, the team behind the just-announced Office Heroes. Check us out on the front page:

    http://toucharcade.com/2010/07/08/upcoming-office-hero-allows-players-to-waste-time-in-real-life-while-wasting-time-in-game/

Office Heroes is a social game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that's hitting the App Store soon.

It's got all the perks of climbing the corporate ladder, without any of the tedious work it requires in real life. A time and resource management game that puts you in control of a virtual office worker, Office Heroes lets you customize your appearance and wardrobe, and expand your office and the toys within it.

To ascend the ranks of the virtual corporate world – which is much, much less stuffy in Office Heroes universe – players must complete a variety of typical workday tasks, such as: updating your resume, watching movies, shopping online, making copies, blogging, tweeting, playing solitaire, gossiping, and tons of other truly productive activities. Completing tasks earns career points, with which players can use to decorate and expand their dream office.

Check out the screens below, as well as the trailer on YouTube.

Will this game require an online connection?

    The front page says this:

It doesn't really then explain what that actually means. It looks like a pretty standard game of this type, gameplay-wise, from the description, albeit an awesome looking one. So is it really different somehow?

Interesting idea, I'm looking forward to the game. It seems polished and with a nice touch of humour :)

At its core you'll find some game mechanics that may feel familiar if you play social games, particularly ones that are of the time/resource management genre. However, it is in a completely different context and environment - ie, not farming. It's a lighthearted satire that just about anyone in the working world can relate to.

Our focus, at least for the first iteration, has been on the amount of content and customization that you are able to play with. We have over 200 decor pieces alone and offer some deep avatar customization.

As far as gameplay, we will be continually updating the app to bring more innovative gameplay features (our focus for the next update which we are working on now), as well as even more decor and clothes.

    And yes, free :)

Asked about it on twitter, "Does Office Heroes require a CONSTANT internet connection to play? Or just for the DLC store and facebook?"

Reply was: "unfortunately in its current state, yes because all the data is stored on our servers and not on the device"

Is it possible to make it so that the data is stored on the device? I'm sure that it wouldn't take up that much space compared to other apps?

Well the dev said that "in its current state" it requires internet. So I'm guessing that they are working to make it not require internet.

That's good, cuase the internet only system causes many problems as far as access goes. This is in relation to other similar apps.

Yep! We're really excited for our launch in a week.

We're planning on having a little "signing bonus" for everyone who picks it up in the first five business days (come on, this is the corporate world we're talking about), with some extra paper clips and career points.

Thursday the 22nd. Watch for us!
