Some of us just check the message boards directly, and have grown to find the news page...uninspiring. I'll check the front page if something on the message board grabs my attention (like this did) or if something on sister site MacRumors has a link with the same effect.
Copying look + feel and/or design, but not piracy. Please NimbleBit, don't sell out to Zynga! (I see Zynga more interested in flat-out buying the properties than paying some sort of settlement. Then again the NimbleBit guys are cool enough that they probably won't seek any legal action...)
The rebuttal: http://kotaku.com/5879441/tiny-tower-rips-off-a-flash-gameand-simtower I made a thread for it but it was deleted.
LOL, that rebuttal is so fail. If you take any two games from the same genre and post the proper screenshots next to each other, they'll look mildly similar. It's the tiny little details that Zynga couldn't even be ****ed to change that make their ripoff so blatant, not to mention their history of doing similar things. Tiny Tower does not look nearly as similar to Corporation Inc as Dream Heights does to Tiny Tower. And that screenshot of SimTower is just not even close to any of them. Ok, to be fair, I guess it's closer than an RPG or FPS would be.
Glu rips off Tiny Tower too? I didn't even see this amid all the news...but check this out Glu rips off Tiny Tower too... http://toucharcade.com/2012/01/27/glu-is-the-latest-company-to-rip-off-tiny-tower/ "Small Street is arguably an even bigger knockoff than Dream Heights with the only changes being the tower laid vertically into a street and the elevator car replaced with a taxi."
I know this is delayed, but I'm disgusted that no one pointed this out: http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/06/zynga-vostu-settle-copyright-lawsuit-brazilian-gaming-company-to-pay-up/ How did we not see that first?
