      I have an iphone 3gs and when I run the game battle for Wesnoth it crashes fairly often. Is there another way to free up memory without an app or restarting my phone?

      Unless you want to Jailbreak your iPhone, the only way is to restart your iPhone or get a memory-freeing app.
