DelBoy2181 Well-Known Member Mar 14, 2011 857 0 0 London, England #3 DelBoy2181, Dec 17, 2012 Ha, and only just recently I was talking about it going free due to the negative reviews. It's a visually impressive game that unfortunately comes across as an iAP driven freemium (with an entry fee) until today that is. DelBoy2181 Well-Known Member Mar 14, 2011 857 0 0 London, England #4 DelBoy2181, Dec 17, 2012 No, it was Nov 21st to be more precise. I was pretty much set on getting CRR because it has 5 lanes to switch between instead of just three... but now I don't have to choose. This is a no-brainer download for me. I love much of what Chillingo publishes as they are typically pretty playable without dipping into the IAP. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #8 Connector, Dec 17, 2012 Wonder why all Chillingo games seem to go free after a month. Seems like everything is going paidmium or freemium nowadays. Really wish we had the Chillingo of old with such awesome puzzle games. But at least we get to try all of their games after a month. Just remember the time aeons ago, when I would get so excited for new Chillingo games. Nowadays, not so much. This game has pretty low itunes ratings, but will give it a chance. Downloading. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #9 nightc1, Dec 17, 2012 I played a couple rounds of the game. It's solid fun. It's got a "Speed" the movie feel since you have to stay above 80mph in order to keep going. So there's a little extra something to it beyond the typical lane runner type stuff. Edit: I just realized how stupid that sounds... many runners are about not slowing down. Temple Run for instance. But in this one there's a speedometer and other stuff that makes it feel more fresh. tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,067 44 48 #10 tops2, Dec 17, 2012 Maybe it should be Chillingo before EA? lol... ;-) MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #11 MidianGTX, Dec 17, 2012 I think it'd feel fresh if it worked. If the game wants to punish you for doing well by requiring you to slow down, it should ensure the next few arrows aren't impossible to reach by being inside scenery. It's way too random to reliably control your speed. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #12 nightc1, Dec 17, 2012 I think that's the hook. If you get greedy with the speed boosts you'll get so far ahead that the game gets impossible... if you don't take enough of them a few hits will send you back and get you kocked out. I think the key strategy here is to aim for slightly above 80 and hover around the middle. Make sure to spend those free coins and the ones earned early on for the boost power up. So if you get caught in a pinch you it's there if you found a ? block early on with it. I think my second game I made it to around 3500m without any power ups. So it's a bit unlike many runners that force you to go faster and faster until it becomes near impossible to survive. I'm not sold on this more than Cubed Rally Redline, but so far it's been good strategic running fun. sink_or_swim Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2012 3,504 5 38 Germany #13 sink_or_swim, Dec 17, 2012 Made it to 4800m in my first run and it's a fun game but like many others said, the items are way too expensive and it feels like it should be a freemium game from the beginning. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #14 nightc1, Dec 17, 2012 Best I've done thus far in the half dozen or so tries is 4,395m. It definitely feels like a freemium title... but like most of the freemium stuff Chillingo puts out, I think I can earn enough coins in game to pretty much get everything out of the game by actually playing it. I've already got every power up on 1x and jump on 2x. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #15 Connector, Dec 17, 2012 Yeah, this game is disappointing just like jar in a bar was last week. Too bad, Chillingo used to be such a good publisher, now they got some not so great games and seem to be going the freemium route. Oh well, at least they are free after a month, but if I was an early adopter, would not be happy with the quality or getting the early adopter blues. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #16 nightc1, Dec 17, 2012 Yeah, but not everything goes free. Like all those iBomber games (though they have had $0.99 sales, and of course I say that and they'll go free next .. though I wouldn't complain as I only bought Attack when it was $0.99). I'm expecting that Man in Maze game to drop to free next. It seemed a bit too freemium. But I'm cool with that. It's hard to have the early adopter blues when you catch on to the usual way things go on and can spot these games and wait around. Jerutix Well-Known Member Nov 3, 2009 1,754 65 48 Male Ministry Oklahoma https://www.discord.gg/kingrabbit #17 Jerutix, Dec 18, 2012 Definitely a grind heavy game, but it does have surprising depth (like the map... I thought it was all random at first). Better off as a free game with such high prices for upgrades. Has anyone else played it too long in one sitting and started feeling like your iPad/iPhone screen is moving toward the top right corner after your game ends? It was sort of trippy. Nobunaga Well-Known Member Jun 2, 2012 1,094 0 0 #18 Nobunaga, Dec 18, 2012 Just came to that moment of realization that this is a $10 game, I'm sure many others have/will. In order to upgrade your car then buy even the cheapest car would take upwards of 10 hours, I would think. I'm in the top 900 best distance scores after a day of owning it and playing casually between trips to the beach, so, lets say I'm average, and it would take me that long. So, if you want the whole experience of what this game was made to be it's $10 or a near infinite amount of play time. I.E. play it like it was your job for a week or two at least. The worst part about this is that at it's core, buried beneath ridiculous prices and a few terrible gameplay mechanics to make the game harder, is a gem of a game. Too bad.
