Hi Folks, Please help me to evaulate this three versions of my app icon. The first has no frame, the second has a frame, mimicking a diving flag. Also, I attach screenshots where we can see the icon in "real life". The framed version has another version with a hand and bubbles outside of the frame. Which do you prefer? Many thanks for your posts, Gyula
Yeah, our small team has also different preferences between the first and the third version. Not an easy decision...
Remove the highlit auto-generated by Apple, no-one use that anymore, it looks amaterish now. Simply set (UIPrerenderedIcon to YES in your Info.plist). I like the 3rd one but without the highlit JC
3rd version. I like that you added the actual comparison how it looks between other icons and with the red border it pops much more than without
4 votes for the first version 3 votes for the third version I will try to make a kind of mix, if feasible
I though Apple strictly enforced a rounded corner rule for app icons? If so, it might conflict with your 2nd and 3rd choices.
The third one has the nice feature of the bubbles coming out past the border, which is good, but the arm coming out in the bottom right corner looks really odd. Also, shouldn't the bubbles be in front of him coming out of his mask? Consider changing the color of the tip of the snorkel and extend it up a bit so it "comes out" of the frame over top of the border.
So, we came to 2 new icons, based on the previous ones. I attach them with the iPad screenshots. What do you think?
make the frame yellow. matches the mask, i dont think you need to add any red at all, yellow and blue seems more like swim wear/equipment colours to me. you dont need the red . id keep the blue bubbles background with a yellow frame, personally.
Well, the reds are also very diver colours, the background serves as a very visible spot and at the same time, the standard diving flag is also red, so it fits to the general diving world. Thanks for your comments!
