If you had to choose one specific type of game genre on iOS what would you choose as your all time favorite? Mine would be trippy twitch games like Duet, SH, Boson X.
Thats a though one.. im a sucker for games with some form of collectible mechanic Summoner Wars Eluna Saga, Crusaders Quest, Soul Seeker etc Though any game that has RPG elements as im a huge RPG fan
Tough call between platformers and RPG's, have to say platformers. Cant stand flappy games, 'tap' games or any games where you can dress up a character !
On iOS, it's a tossup between RPGs and platformers as well (like PSJ's) but more specifically the metroidvanias and exploration-heavy RPGs. That said, here are some titles i completed on iOS just because i really love the exploration involved in these titles: Oceanhorn KOTOR Ravensword Chrono Trigger Battleheart Legacy Wayward Souls Tainted Keep Cardinal Quest 2 Mines of Mars Swordigo Goblin Sword Adventure Time Game Wizard Powerpuff Girls Defenders of Townsvile VVVVVV Traps n Gemstones These are just some examples of why i love exploration in games. Ironically, some my top favorite games on iOS are MHFU, EPOCH.2, Boson X, Hearthstone, Heroes & Castles, Evoland, Limbo, Infinity Blade 3, and Polara. These are either lacking or even missing in the exploration department. Good thread Coolpepper!
I don't like to generalize things, especially not genres. There are many games of the genre I like, that I don't like. It's especially hard to name the genres since they are getting more and more mixed with other genres to the point you can't really tell what genre the game is at its core. With that being said, I would rather list sub-genres which I dislike (since I didn't like any games of the sub-genre I played): - JRPG - KRPG - anything that requires you to get 3 of the same diamonds in a row/column (candy crush equivalents, including "rpg's" that require you to match 3 swords in a row, for example) - Clash of Clans and the like - Shoot 'em up - massive online battle arenas - anything turn based (unless it's completely strategical, with no preparation or collecting, like chess for example.) - dual stick shooters - anything that requires you to mindlessly smash a button (God of War type games) - "tap" games as psj3809 called them - on rail shooters and other shooters where you can't control your movement. - 3rd person shooters - minecraft/terraria type games - sports games Might seem like I'm avoiding a lot of sub-genres but don't worry, I still get to play a lot of games on this platform.
