    Sid Meier's Starships by 2K

Starships is on sale for $8.99 down from $14.99, but is it now worth it? I've heard a lot of mixed things shout this one. I would love a portable sci fi civilisation, even if it is watered down.

Very watered down. I did not enjoy. Combat was too simple and resource management somewhat soft as well. It's just ok at best imo.

What would you recommend instead to itch that strategy urge?

Not on iPad Air 2. In iOS 8.3 the sound is all fubar. No word yet if 2k will bother to fix it.

That would be great, I recently got an iPad Air 2 having had an iPod touch and been when iOS gaming was up and coming about five years ago. Since then I've been addicted to the usual civilisation etc on desktop. Money doesn't matter too much, though I do like to get things on sale or at their lowest price.

@XGLITE: For me it was worth it at $15 precisely because of this ashmike3 mentions. If you're looking for simple combat and resource management, it can fulfill your needs. If you're looking for something more complex, then this is not for you. Hope it helps.

Space harvest 2 is the best on the market right to now

I agree with this assessment. It's not the world's deepest turn based strategy game but it's fun for what it is.

I have an iPad Air 2 and I've read in the App Store about lockups. Anyone know about this?

Zero lockup issues for me on my iPad Air 2 and I have 10 hours into the game.

The game has been updated twice, and one of them was just bugfixes. Maybe it got fixed? I'm on iPad3 and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

I guess at $8.99 I'll give it a go. I don't necessarily need tons of micromanagement. The lockup issue was my main concern. Thanks! ;)

It's a different style game since its a RTS and Starships is turn based.

Yeah I'm really looking for turn based, larger scale strategy :)

We're in the same boat because I'm always looking for good turned based 4X strategy games. Let me know if you find anything to scratch the itch and I'll do the same. :)

Starships? Well I've only played it for about an hour but already I see it needs some kind of tooltip system for all the buttons you can press. I press some and get wrong results but I don't know how else to learn them. The battle system sucks, because every time I need to adjust the view, I pinch the screen and my ship moves. I keep needing to adjust the battle view but touching the screen makes a choice. That stinks. Ruins the entire battle.

Sometimes I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. Seems like a shallow game so far that needs more work. However, one hour is not enough to evaluate much.
