Koduco Games is working on a new iPad game (actually universal) called Chess 360. It should come out in a little over a month. So far most of the game is done, we're just working on the look and feel. The graphics will be in 3D, much like our previous title 3D Checkers. We need your help to design our 3D Pieces. We've been working with an amazing 3D artist named Dan. He sent us these sketches to determine the look and feel of the pieces: What do you think? Which style do you prefer? Thanks!
It really depends on the style you're going for. I think the simple ones are better because they'll make for good low-poly assets. That being said, I think I like the middle one the best.
I prefer 1C, it Looks funny and with good texturing you can keep down the Count of polys. Also i Thing the polygoncount is no Object in a Chess Game. Do you Thing about Fight animations? I Thing with cool animations, a comic like style and a little Bit Humor i would Play Chess There are any Screenshots or Videos? Which 3D engine you use?
We're using an in-house engine that we built for 3D Checkers. I love the idea of animated fight scenes! Battle Chess was amazing. We may incorporate animations in a future version. For now we're focusing on making a really beautiful looking board, and building a great user interface. I'll post screenshots shortly, as soon as we get some of these chess pieces designed. I don't want to show our developer art work!
Voted 3c. Curious as to how there could be any money in 3d chess or checkers at this point in the life of the app store, but I wish you the best.
